(May 30) \u2013 The Chairman of Lime Rock Park\u2019s Historic Festival 31, Murray Smith, today published the race group titles and descriptions for the August 30 \u2013 September 2 vintage racing event. More than 300 historic cars are due to compete.

\nThis year Lime Rock Park is celebrating the “birthdays” of iconic cars and marques. Historic Festival 31 celebrates the anniversaries of Aston Martin, now 100 years old; a reunion of the Cunningham marque at 60 years old (Smith says to expect \u201can unprecedented array\u201d); the Corvette, also 60; the Porsche 911, introduced 50 years ago; as well as the Lotus Elan’s 50th. In addition there will be extraordinary vehicles from the stable of Honored Collector Laurence Auriana.<\/p>\n

Race Groups for Historic Festival 31 at Lime Rock Park…<\/p>\n

Group I, for the Lime Rock Cup: \u201cNippy & Agile,\u201d road-going production sports and GT cars
\nGroup 2, for the VSCCA Bowl, \u201cThe Dawn of Real Performance,\u201d early sports and racing cars
\nGroup 3, for the Anglo-Italian Ingot, \u201cFast, Furious & Fun,\u201d Formula Junior
\nGroup 4, for the Chairman\u2019s Mug, \u201cFifties & Sixties Flyers,\u201d mid-century sports racing cars
\nGroup 5, for the Posey Plate, \u201cThe Real Deal,\u201d authentic Trans-Am cars
\nGroup 6, for Skip\u2019s Challenge Award, \u201cNo Holds Barred,\u201d Formula Libre single-seaters
\nGroup 7, for Mick\u2019s Magnum \u2013 Classic and Sports Car Magazine Cup, \u201cWild, Wild Horses,\u201d big-bore production sports and GT cars
\nGroup 8, for the Litchfield Cup, \u201cNot Quite Street Legal,\u201d modified production cars
\nGroup 9, for the Timolat Trophy \u201cSophisticated & Specialized,\u201d post-1965 sports racing cars<\/p>\n

Since 1983, the East Coast’s premier vintage racing and concours event has been the Historic Festival weekend at Lime Rock Park, held annually on Labor Day weekend. No other venue in the U.S. has three days of on-track racing sandwiching a prestigious concours event all on the same property.<\/p>\n
