SCARBOROUGH, Maine \u2013 Bradley Babb of Windham, Maine, finished second in the season-opening NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Pro Series 50 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, June 1. Babb, the reigning NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track champion at the track, started 4th in the 24-car field after missing most of the day’s practice while trying to resolve a mechanical issue with the No. 4 Babb Wood Contractors\/McGoldrick Bros. Blasting Chevrolet. He never ran outside the Top-5 in the main event, emerging from some spirited racing with the runner-up finish. Babb joins the rest of the field when they return next weekend, June 8, for the second race of the season.

BRADLEY, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAR?<\/strong>
\nWe showed up and had no clutch. I don’t know why \u2013 because it never showed up when we were here two weeks ago in practice. It made for a long night. I only got about five laps of practice, because I missed the first two practices. In the heat, the car was just phenomenal. And at the start of the feature it was really good, too.<\/p>\n

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE SECOND-PLACE FINISH?<\/strong>
\nI mean, you always want to win, but it’s a good way to start the season. Obviously, it’s a good points night.
\nAt one point, me and the 24 car got together, and then apparently he wanted to be the dirtiest driver there is under green and under yellow. But that’s OK \u2013 he’ll get what’s coming to him.<\/p>\n

DO YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE CLUTCH ISSUE FIGURED OUT GOING FORWARD?<\/strong>
\nWe changed everything we could change (before practice), everything we had a spare of \u2013 or everything we could get reasonably cheap. Nothing seemed to fix it. There’s basically two things left we’ve got to change, and both of them are expensive, so that’s going to stink.<\/p>\n
