Barker 2nd Rookie to claim Modified Win<\/em><\/p>\n

BRADFORD, VT \u2013 Kane Pike of Bradford VT became the seventh different winner of the season in the Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupe division in the 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series on J&A Lawncare and Boudreault Septic Night at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday..<\/p>\n

It would take Pike seventeen laps to work his way to the front of the pack and a caution on that lap was what he needed to steal the lead from Buster Kathan of Ludlow VT. Pike maintained the lead for the remaining laps and went on to claim the win making him the seventh different driver in seven. Kathan in his career best performance crossed the line in second with Jeff Robbins coming home in third for the final victory lane spot. Rounding out the top five were Josh Constantine and Jesse Smith.

\nRookie Derek Barker of Thetford VT capitalized on his starting position and track conditions to hold off the field of mighty modifieds for his first win of his career at Bear Ridge Speedway. Barker took the lead from Adam Gage of Plainfield NH on lap twelve and would survive several restarts to claim the checkers. It took thirty four laps for Justin Comes and Kevin Chaffee to get to the front where on lap forty they would finish in that order behind Barker. The remaining top five positions were claimed by Mike Dunn and Robert Tucker.<\/p>\n

At the time of press the Ridge is very happy to report that Bob Shepard, who suffered a heart attack in last week\u2019s third segment of the Bond Auto Sportsman Modifieds, and was transported to DHMC was released from the same on Sunday. All of his family at the Ridge wish him continued progress with his healing, and look forward to seeing him soon at the track.<\/p>\n

Jason Giguere of Enfield, NH remains unbeaten in the Laquerre\u2019s Sports Limited Late Model Division as he picked up another win, taking the lead on lap seven. Brian Chaffee worked his way up to second and Matt Ellsworth came home in third.<\/p>\n

In the Weglarz Property Service Fast Fours. Tim Martin picked up the win with Kevin Harran second and Charlie Pickering third.<\/p>\n

Joe Kemp grabbed his first win in the KDD NAPA Auto Parts Hornets. He was followed across the line by Stan Otterman in second and Mike Lique in third.<\/p>\n

Bear Ridge Speedway\u2019s season of stock car racing continues with mid-season championships on the line and the 2nd annual Mikey and Shirley Bruleigh Memorial Night presented by the Dusty Bottle Bar Saturday, July 13. The USAC Dirt Midgets will be on hand along with the rest of the 99ROCK Weekly Racing Series Modifieds, Coupes, Late Models, Fast Fours and Hornets. Special general admission is $10 for adults (age 18-61), $8 for teens (12-17) and seniors (62+), and $2 for children; Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Racing begins at the famous \u201c6:00-ish\u201d start time.<\/p>\n

Bear Ridge Speedway is located on Kidder Road in Bradford, VT, just off Exit 16 on Interstate 91.<\/p>\n
