(April 9) &#8211; Lime Rock Park is again encouraging everyone within \u201clistening\u201d distance to show support for \u201cSpike\u2019s Ride for Sandy Hook,\u201d the huge car-truck-and-bike show, as the second annual fundraising gathering is set for Saturday, May 3 at Connecticut\u2019s Northwest Corner motorsports facility. Proceeds benefit the Newtown Police Union and the Rotary Club Sandy Hook Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, George \u201cSpikes\u201d LeGrice and friends made it happen at Lime Rock Park: The car show to benefit Sandy Hook families and first responders was a big success. At the \u201cSpike\u2019s Ride for Sandy Hook,\u201d organizers confirmed more than 2,400 vehicles \u2013 cars, motorcycles and trucks \u2013 made their way to Lakeville, collecting $26,000 in cash donations.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nLeGrice, 28, an EMT and National Guardsman from Brockton, Mass., is again organizing the 2014 \u201cRide,\u201d with Lime Rock donating the facility and personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike last year, we\u2019ve got multiple states sending convoys to Lime Rock,\u201d LeGrice says. \u201cIf you\u2019re not part of a convoy, that\u2019s okay! Just bring your cool car, truck or motorcycle and help us help the Newtown Police Union and the Rotary Club Sandy Hook Fund.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lime Rock Park\u2019s gate opens at 7:00 a.m., Sat., May 3 for vendors and entrants for the 2014 \u201cSpike\u2019s Ride for Sandy Hook.\u201d Spectator gates open at 10:00 a.m. for this all-day show, which includes a drifting exhibition on the Infield Autocross Course and a motorcycle stunt show, plus local vendors, music and an impressively varied collection of incredible vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The donation is $15 for cars, trucks and motorcycles, $20 for lifted trucks and other big vehicles. Show-watchers are encouraged to donate at the Spike\u2019s Ride Booth on the property.<\/p>\n<p>Skip Barber said, \u201cLast year\u2019s event was one of the most \u2018democratic\u2019 shows I\u2019ve ever seen. We had Bentleys from the 1930s shoulder to shoulder with Honda Accords, which, by the way, were right next to jacked-up diesel pick-ups, Z28s and Austin-Healeys.
