Tyler Church and Cole Timm have been neck and neck in pursuit of the South’s most prestigious Super Late Model championship, each scoring a win so far this season. But, Jared Irvan, Tyler Dippel, Trevor Noles, and Brandon Setzer have consistently been finishing in the top five as of late and are keeping the championship contenders in site as they head to Southern National this weekend.

However, Church and Timm will certainly be among the cars to beat at Southern National. Church won last year’s season ending Mason Dixon Meltdown last November and was the fast qualifier when PASS visited the fast high banked speedway in May. Timm finished second to Church in the Meltdown and has placed in the top five in three of the last four PASS South events at Southern National. Those results, coupled with his recent win at South Boston Speedway, has Timm confident heading into the Southern National 150.

“We had one slip through our fingers there last time at Southern National and I think we have a really good shot of winning when we go back,” said Timm. “I think the championship is definitely going down to the wire. Both Tyler [Church] and I are going to have our ups and downs, but in the end, hopefully it will all work out and will come down to one of the last races.”

As well as Timm has performed in his young PASS South career at Southern National, he has seemed to thrive in the heat of summer there. Timm scored his first career PASS South top five finish last year at Southern National after a thrilling late race battle between himself and eventual race winner Austin Theriault. The young driver from Mooresville, NC feels like the heat expected this weekend at Southern National will once again play to his favor.

“During the summer months the track is slick and there is no way of working around that,” said Timm. “It seems like every time we go there we have something different set-up wise, but we’re going back there this time with something pretty similar to what we had last time and hopefully it will be pretty decent.”
In addition to the championship contenders, another driver to keep an eye will be Harrison Burton. Burton has been up front quite a bit lately and hopes to improve on his sixth place finish at Southern National in May. Tate Fogleman is coming off of one of his best efforts of the season at South Boston where he finished sixth, as is Virginia driver Tanner Rumburg who plans to make his return to competition at Southern National.

Action gets under way on Friday, July 11th at Southern National Motorsports Park with rotating practice for all divisions from 4 to 7 PM. On Saturday, July 12th, practice goes from 3 to 5 PM, followed by qualifying and racing for the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models slated to start at 7:30 PM.
PASS South Super Late Model and PASS Pro Late Model entry forms and the schedule for this weekend’s events Southern National Motorsports Park can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as PASS South’s Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, the Autobus La Quebecoise Triple Crown at Autodrome Chaudière, and the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 9) – As summer continues to roll on, the action on the track is also heating up as the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models prepare for their 9th race of the season coming up this Saturday night at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC.
