The 2014 installment of \u2018One Great Racing Weekend\u2019 boasts another full line up, featuring a diverse docket of racing.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The weekend begins Friday night with six trophies up for grabs and the crowning of the 2014 Gilley\u2019s \u2018Cool 5\u2019 champions. Friday night\u2019s racing is headlined by the 49 lap Weekly Warrior Late Model feature and also includes the Sportsman, American Short Trackers and Roadrunners running 40 lap features. Complementing those four divisions will be the 25 lap \u2018Bandit Challenge\u2019 and a 15 lap Figure 8 showdown. Racing begins Friday night at 7:07 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday September 27 is the busiest day of \u2018One Great Racing Weekend,\u2019 with six divisions in action and five championship feature races. Saturday is the first day for Super Late Model racing at NSTC, featuring qualifying and preliminary events for all the Super Late Models plus full programs for the Big 8 Late Model Series, Mid American Stock Car Series, Great Northern Sportsman Series, Illini Midgets and Hobby Stox. The Big 8 Late Model Series highlights \u2018Short Track Saturday Night\u2019 with a 108 lap feature race, while the Mid American, Great Northern Sportsman and Illini Midgets all running 50 lap feature events while Hobby Stox end the night with a 30 lapper. The green flag drops on \u2018Short Track Saturday Night\u2019 at 5:05 PM.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Championship Sunday\u2019 brings the \u2018World\u2019s Fastest Short Track Show\u2019 to NSTC, as the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Cars take to Rockford Speedway for the first time In three years. Nearly 20 of the winged wonders, including track record holder and two-time Little 500 winner Jacob Wilson and local favorite Tim Cox lead the Sprinters back to Rockford. The mega-weekend comes to a close with the traditional running of the 200 lap \u2018National Short Track Championship\u2019 Super Late Model race, where Eddie Hoffman looks to pocket his fifth NSTC and hold off challengers like Steve Apel, Michael Bilderback, James Swan, Steve Rubeck and Casey Johnson.
