He was a car owner at Riverside Park in the early 1950\u2019s, a flagman, a successful Mini Sprint driver and a track owner. His support of Modified racing and Stafford stretches across more than 30 years and is best known for his Ferrara 100 events at the Connecticut half-mile.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In 2010, Frank was honored by being inducted in to the NEAR Hall of Fame. The Ferrara 100\u2019s were also Stafford\u2019s first involvement with NAPA.<br \/>\n\u201cFrank was the owner of Ferrara Spring Works which was also a NAPA dealer,\u201d recalls Mark Arute, Stafford\u2019s COO\/GM. \u201cWhen My father took over Stafford, Frank was one of the first area businessmen to offer sponsorship support.<\/p>\n<p>We had planned to have Frank serve as this year\u2019s Grand Marshall as long ago as last season. Unfortunately, Frank passed away this January and the honor now falls upon his family and him, posthumously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ferrara is survived by his children, son Mark Ferrara of Laguna Niguel, CA, daughters Diane Valentino of West Springfield, and Irene F. Camerota. He also has 6 grandchildren, Vanessa, Scott and his wife Kristina, Eric, Joseph, Audrey and Anthony.<\/p>\n<p>The 44th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler will run on Sunday, April 26 at approximately 3:15pm following the NAPA Pit Party from 11am-12noon and the SK Modified\u00ae and Late Model feature events beginning at 1pm.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets for the \u201cGreatest Race in the History of Spring\u201d are on sale now at the Speedway Box Office.
