Canaan, NH. — With the points battle heating up and only eight <\/p>\n

points separating them in the current standings, Todd Szegedy, <\/p>\n

of Ridgefield, CT and Woody Pitkat, of Stafford Springs, CT, <\/p>\n

lead the list of entries for Friday nights, Valenti Modified <\/p>\n

Racing Series \u2018Stratham Tire 100\u2019 at Lee USA Speedway, Lee. <\/p>\n

Szegedy, winner of the season opening event at Monadnock <\/p>\n

Speedway, Winchester, NH, is seeking his first Lee victory.<\/p>\n

Pitkat won is first VMRS race last month at Stafford Springs <\/p>\n

Motor Speedway Stafford, CT. He too is looking for his first <\/p>\n

win at Lee.<\/p>\n

Canton, MA, veteran Richard Savary, victorious at Seekonk <\/p>\n

MA Speedway two weeks ago, is an expected entry Friday. <\/p>\n

Savary has two wins at the Lee 3\/8th mile oval.<\/p>\n

Three-time series champions are entering the fourth race of the <\/p>\n

season. Kirk Alexander, of W.Swanzey, NH, and Jon <\/p>\n

McKennedy, of E. Chelmsford, MA, are expected entries. <\/p>\n

Alexander has three victories at Lee. McKennedy, a former <\/p>\n

Lee track champion, has two VMRS wins to his credit there. <\/p>\n

Alexander\u2019s last series win was July 2010 with McKennedy <\/p>\n

last visiting the VMRS winner\u2019s circle September 12. <\/p>\n

Additional entries for the first of two races at Lee this season <\/p>\n

include, Todd Patnode, of Richmond, NH, Donnie Lashua, of <\/p>\n

Canaan, NH, David Schneider, of Northport, NY, Dylan Kopec, <\/p>\n

of Palmer, Ma, Norm Wrenn, of Nashua, NH, Matt Mead, of <\/p>\n

Richmond, Mike Willis, of Grantham, NH, and Carl Medeiros, <\/p>\n

of Westport, MA.<\/p>\n

For the first time in VMRS history, the feature race will be split <\/p>\n

into two 50-lap segments. Series Race Director Warren Alston <\/p>\n

said the reason for the different race format is two-fold.<\/p>\n

\u201c With so many options for entertainment and your local short <\/p>\n

track being one of them, we need to give the fans the best show <\/p>\n

possible.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201c It was decided that we would split the 100-lap event into twin <\/p>\n

50 lap races.\u00a0Gives the fan a 2 for 1 deal by seeing the same <\/p>\n

amount of laps; in two segments.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alston added, \u201cWe felt by splitting the feature into two <\/p>\n

segments, allowing the team’s to change a new right rear <\/p>\n

scuffed tire, inverting the lead lap cars for the second feature, it <\/p>\n

would make for an exciting race for the fans.\u201d\u00a0 <\/p>\n

For the competitors we are awarding points for each feature <\/p>\n

towards the season ending point championship<\/p>\n
