Waterbury, VT<\/em> \u2013 The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and S\u00e9rie ACT head to Ste-Croix, QC\u2019s Circuit Riverside Speedway this Saturday, August 22<\/span><\/span> for the Can-Am 150. U.S. drivers have dominated the annual Tour combination event since its incarnation in 2010, but the top S\u00e9rie ACT drivers are ready to defend their turf.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Can-Am 150 is the tenth of 13 race in the ACT U.S. schedule and the eighth in the 12-race S\u00e9rie ACT season. Hudson, NH\u2019s Joey Polewarczyk Jr. triumphed in the 2014 running at the 5\/8-mile oval and clinched his first ACT Tour Championship in the process. Defending S\u00e9rie ACT Champion Alex Labb\u00e9 is the only Quebec driver to win an ACT combo event at Circuit Riverside, having captured the 2013 edition.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

S\u00e9rie ACT will bring a strong group to chase the top prize on Saturday<\/span><\/span>. Point leader Dany Tr\u00e9panier earned his first win of the season in the tour\u2019s most recent event at Autodrome St-F\u00e9licien. Labb\u00e9 and Martin Goulet Jr. have visited Victory Lane this season, while Jonathan Bouvrette leads the Bond Auto Parts New Champions standings. Patrick Cliche and 2013 S\u00e9rie ACT Champion Jean-Fran\u00e7ois D\u00e9ry sit third and fifth in the point standings and will also be factors.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI want to win! I have a great car this year,\u201d Tr\u00e9panier said. \u201cLast year in this race I was really fast but had bad luck. I was good at the last S\u00e9rie ACT race and at the International doubleheader at Airborne. I want to win, but I know that Wayne Helliwell and Joey Pole will be fast too.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Can-Am 150 is the second of four ACT combination events this season. The two series will visit Vall\u00e9e-Jct., QC\u2019s Autodrome Chaudiere on Saturday, September 12 for a 200-lap event as part of a doubleheader with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models. The final combo event will be the Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY on Saturday, October 3.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI love the combination events,\u201d Tr\u00e9panier said. \u201cIt\u2019s always a good day when we get to compete with the U.S. drivers. The U.S. guys are really cool with the Quebec drivers, and when we compete with them, there are at least eight drivers who can win.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The ACT U.S. Tour championship battle between Wayne Helliwell Jr. and \u201cJoey Pole\u201d continues to go back-and-forth. Dover, NH\u2019s Helliwell gained the upper hand at Maine\u2019s Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on August 8 and now has an eight-point edge over Pole. It is the fifth time this season the two have swapped the point lead.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A trifecta of Maine racers are fighting for third in the standings. Windham\u2019s Brad Babb grabbed his second win of the season at Beech Ridge to solidify his third-place position, but Auburn\u2019s Travis Stearns and Winthrop\u2019s Jeff White are lurking. Teenagers Emily Packard and Brandon Atkins aren\u2019t far behind and could make a late-season push.<\/p>\n

The sixth annual Can-Am 150 at Ste-Croix, QC\u2019s Circuit Riverside Speedway is this Saturday, August 22<\/span><\/span>. ACT qualifying heats begin at 6:00pm<\/span><\/span>. The Kamikazes and Vintage Racers will also be in action with Kamikaze qualifying beginning at 2:25pm<\/span><\/span>. Admission is $35 CAD for adults, $15 CAD for children ages 13-17, and free for kids 12 and under.<\/p>\n
