Waterbury, VT<\/em> \u2013 The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) announced today that ACT will return to the 1.058-mile speedway in 2016 for the 8th<\/sup> Annual Bond Auto Parts ACT Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24<\/span><\/span>. The 50-lap event has been a staple of the ACT schedule since its inaugural running in 2009.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a race that I love going to,\u201d 2014 Invitational winner Wayne Helliwell, Jr. said. \u201cIt brings a different type of racing that we don\u2019t get to do at any other track. Running three-, four-, and sometimes five-wide, as much as it\u2019s nerve-wracking, is also really enjoyable. Overall, it\u2019s just a great experience \u2013 especially being mixed in with some of the Cup drivers and the Modified Tour guys. It\u2019s a big event for the crew, the family, and the sponsors, and it\u2019s something we really look forward to every year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2015 Bond Auto Parts ACT Invitational drew competitors from seven different U.S. states and the Canadian province of Quebec, with Rowley, MA\u2019s Eddie MacDonald capturing his fourth Invitational victory. This year\u2019s edition will once again be part of the track\u2019s NASCAR weekend on \u201cTripleheader Saturday<\/span><\/span>\u201d which includes the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe American-Canadian Tour brings passion, high-quality racing and a loyal short track fan base to our facility every September,\u201d said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of NHMS. \u201cIt goes without saying that we could not be more proud to host some of the best drivers in the Northeast and Canada for the Tour\u2019s biggest all-star event as they put on a great show for the fans with the help of our partner Bond Auto Parts for the ACT Invitational.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ACT Late Model Tour opens the 2016 season with the New Hampshire Governor\u2019s Cup at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 10<\/span><\/span>. The 12-race Tour schedule includes events at 11 different tracks throughout the Northeast United States. The Bond Auto Parts ACT Invitational is one of two featured non-point events, along with the 54th<\/sup> Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl at Barre, VT\u2019s Thunder Road on Sunday, October 2<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n
