\"thunder\"Barre, VT \u2013 Excitement is quickly growing for the return of youth Go-Kart racing at Barre, VT\u2019s Thunder Road in 2016. An informational meeting held on Tuesday, January 19 for the Junior Champ Kart division drew attendance and interest from more than 20 youth competitors and their families throughout Vermont and New Hampshire.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone at the meeting seemed pretty excited about it,\u201d Thunder Road Race Director Cris Michaud said. \u201cPeople are really interested in the way that we\u2019re doing it. There won\u2019t be any points awarded, so people can just come out and enjoy racing without the pressure of worrying about points. We think that\u2019s the best way to keep things fun for young competitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Junior Champ Karts will be open to competitors ages 6 to 14. A 10-event season will run weekly on Tuesday nights at Thunder Road from late June through August, with a Saturday season finale in mid-September.<\/p>\n

Michaud added that interest is high enough for the Karts to potentially be split into \u201cRookie\u201d and \u201cPro\u201d classes, allowing competitors with similar experience levels to race against each other. Both classes would follow the same rules, which will be similar to those used at other tracks in New Hampshire and Maine.<\/p>\n
