{"id":20556,"date":"2016-05-09T08:47:53","date_gmt":"2016-05-09T12:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/?p=20556"},"modified":"2016-05-09T08:47:53","modified_gmt":"2016-05-09T12:47:53","slug":"tasha-dyer-takes-super-street-win-at-wiscasset-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/tasha-dyer-takes-super-street-win-at-wiscasset-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"TASHA DYER TAKES SUPER STREET WIN AT WISCASSET SPEEDWAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-15965\" src=\"http:\/\/maineracing.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Super32VL-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Super32VL\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>By Lisa and Rich Maguire<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The bright lights of Wiscasset Speedway illuminated the track at the first evening race of the season.\u00a0\u00a0 Despite the cool weather, fans lined the grandstands to watch group one division racing which included Super Streets, Thunder Four Mini\u2019s,\u00a0\u00a0 ServePro of Biddeford Saco Prostocks, New England Four Cylinder Prostocks, and the flex race of the week, Wicked Good Vintage Racers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Spotlighted race of the evening was a twenty-five lap Super Street presentation.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Starting on the pole was the #27 of Barry Poulin.\u00a0 To his right was the #38 of Cody Buzzell.\u00a0 Starting in third was Bernie Dinsmore of the #3.\u00a0 When green flag racing began, Tasha Dyer of the #32 advanced quickly from fifth, passing Dinsmore for third by lap two.\u00a0 Ahead, Poulin was setting a fast pace for the pack, but Buzzell was tailing him looking for his chance to pass.\u00a0 His chance came during lap fifteen when Poulin went high, opening the door for Buzzell.\u00a0 During lap sixteen, Buzzell and Poulin raced head to head, until Buzzell accelerated and passed Poulin on the inside coming out of turn two for the lead.\u00a0 Dyer, sticking close to Buzzell, also passed Poulin for second.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dyer and Buzzell raced around the track, putting some distance between them and the rest of the pack.\u00a0 Dyer was looking for an opening that Buzzell never gave her.\u00a0 With time running out, and no other option, Dyer moved outside during lap twenty-four, looking for the lead.\u00a0 Dyer quickly shot to the side of Buzzell, and the duo raced door to door.\u00a0 Dyer dug deep and her car edged ahead by a nose, flying under the checkered .063 seconds ahead of Buzzell for the win.\u00a0 Buzzell had to settle for second.\u00a0 Poulin placed third.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dyer said, \u201cI won my first race of the season <span data-term=\"goog_538005240\">tonight<\/span>.\u00a0 I started in fifth, kept my tires under me, hit my marks, stayed calm and drove past the leader on the outside, coming to the checkered.\u00a0 I led only one lap, and it was the one that counted.\u00a0 I\u2019m so grateful for everyone that puts so much effort on this thing.\u00a0 I owe you!\u00a0 Thank you to the fans who got autographs, pictures, and hugs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Two twenty lap flex races were next on the agenda.\u00a0\u00a0 The two features were raced by the Wicked Good Vintage Racers (WGVR).\u00a0 The first WGVR feature was the Late Model Division.\u00a0 The group payed tribute to the life of Steve Reny, a long time race car driver from Wiscasset Speedway who passed away in January.\u00a0 Amy Reny, Steve Renys\u2019 wife, was behind the wheel of the #7.\u00a0 Steve Reny raced the #7 last year at Wiscasset Speedway, winning a race in August.\u00a0 At the start of the race the pole position was left empty in honor of Reny.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When the cars shot over the start line, the #97 driven by Brian Hughes jumped to the lead.\u00a0 The lead was short lived because the #420 of Keith Smalley passed Hughes for the lead during lap two.\u00a0 The #2 of Kevin Waterhouse moved to second, and the #73 of Mark Theranault advanced to third.\u00a0 By lap four, Theranault was in the lead, and stayed there to take the win.\u00a0 Smalley dropped back.\u00a0 The #82 of Bobbie Symonds advanced into the top three. Waterhouse and Symonds battled it out for second place, but ultimately Symonds gained the advantage and took second.\u00a0 Waterhouse placed third.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The second WGVR race featured the Outlaw class.\u00a0 The #86 of Ryan Chadwick started on the pole.\u00a0 To his right was the #79 of Scott Tucker.\u00a0 Behind was Bob Guyon of the #1.\u00a0 The action was quick on the track when racing began.\u00a0 All eyes were on the #? of James Osmond.\u00a0 Osmond rapidly moved from the back of the pack to the lead by lap five.\u00a0 The #55 of Gary Dwinal followed Osmond to take second.\u00a0 Chadwick moved to third.\u00a0 Race leaders remained constant until the final lap, when Dwinal spun coming out of turn four, just before the finish line.\u00a0 Chadwick advanced to second and Guyon to third.\u00a0 Osmond took the win.\u00a0 Chadwick placed second.\u00a0 Guyon took third.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wiscasset\u2019s entry level class was next on the track.\u00a0 The Thunder Four Mini\u2019s competed in a twenty lap race that quickly sped by.\u00a0 It was a mad dash for the lead at race start, but by the conclusion of lap one, the top three had secured their winning spots, and they stayed there.\u00a0 The #19 of Travis Poulliot was in the lead, and cruised to first place. Michael Harrison of the #48 took second.\u00a0 The #3 of Jeff Minchin Jr came in third, holding off the #4J of Joe Katula.\u00a0 However, Minchin failed post-race inspection and third was later awarded to Katula.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ServePro of Biddeford Saco Prostock race was exciting from the start.\u00a0 Fifteen cars competed in a forty lap feature event.\u00a0 Starting at the pole was the #99 of Ajay Picard.\u00a0 In second was Chuck Colby of the #72.\u00a0 Starting in third was the #91JR of Mike Orr.\u00a0 There were two cautions during the race, and they both happened in the first lap.\u00a0 On the restart, Colby shot to the forefront, but Picard quickly snatched the lead back.\u00a0 The #09 of Jeremy Davis passed Orr for third.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Davis was not content with third and passed Colby during lap two for second.\u00a0 Davis then drove up to the rear of Picard and chased him around the track.\u00a0 During lap six, Davis bumped Picard and slid underneath for a pass, taking the lead. Lap ten saw another change in the top three when the #13 of Nate Tribbett passed Colby for third.\u00a0 Ahead, Davis had gained a commanding lead, running away with the win.\u00a0 Picard was in second.\u00a0 It looked like Tribbett had third place in hand when suddenly, during lap thirty-seven, his car experienced mechanical issues and he headed to the pits.\u00a0 The #15 of Nick Hinkley advanced to third.\u00a0 Davis took the win.\u00a0 Picard placed second.\u00a0 Hinkley rounded out the top three in third.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wrapping up the show was a twenty-five lap New England Four Cylinder Prostock race.\u00a0 The race was a jumble from the start.\u00a0 There were numerous cautions, and the race ended under a yellow and checkered flag.\u00a0 Starting at the pole was Brooke Knowles of the #9X.\u00a0 Brooke Knowles was able to lead the first five caution-filled laps, but dropped to third when she was passed by both the #48 of RJ Pinkham and the #24 of Jeff Prindall.\u00a0 During lap eight, Prindall spun on the back stretch, bringing out a caution.\u00a0 Prindall was sent to the back.\u00a0 Moving up to fill the void was the #38 of Ryan Hayes.\u00a0 By lap twelve, Hayes was in second.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pinkham and Hayes then battled for the lead until lap nineteen.\u00a0 On lap nineteen the duo spun on turn three, and most of the field was gathered up in the ensuing chaos.\u00a0 When the dust cleared, the #98 of Kamren Knowles was in the lead.
