{"id":20731,"date":"2016-06-21T08:13:21","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T12:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/16\/?p=20731"},"modified":"2016-06-21T08:13:21","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T12:13:21","slug":"dominant-dilbeck-takes-1st-career-pass-south-win-at-hickory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2016\/06\/dominant-dilbeck-takes-1st-career-pass-south-win-at-hickory\/","title":{"rendered":"Dominant Dilbeck Takes 1st Career PASS South Win At Hickory"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_16175\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16175\" class=\"wp-image-16175 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/maineracing.com\/16\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMG_1199-1280x853-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1199 (1280x853)\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16175\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">PASS Photo<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>HICKORY, NC (June 18) \u2013 Chris Dilbeck led over 120 laps in a dominating performance to win <span data-term=\"goog_1021229722\">Saturday<\/span> night\u2019s Over The Mountain 150 for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models at Hickory Motor Speedway.\u00a0 The victory marks the first career PASS South Super Late Model win for the Georgia native.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThis is just unbelievable to win at a place like Hickory,\u201d said an emotional Dilbeck afterwards.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re just a part-time team and this is just amazing to do this against this type of competition.\u00a0 Me and two other guys work on this car and it was just perfect all night long.\u00a0 I just really can\u2019t believe this.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Defending PASS South champion, Tate Fogleman, set the standard in qualifying, bettering the competition with a lap of 87.447 miles per hour.\u00a0 After the top 10 qualifiers redraw, Fogleman would slot in to the sixth starting position, while Dilbeck and Jared Irvan would move up to the front row to lead the field to green.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On a very pleasant night for the fans to enjoy some short track racing, Irvan would take the lead into turn one, before Dilbeck would power by on lap nine.\u00a0 The first caution of the night would fall just one lap later when Jimmy Doyle would go for a spin in turn four.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Back under green, Dilbeck continued to lead, while Matt Craig was making his way up from the ninth starting position and into the top five by lap 14.\u00a0 The caution would fly again for a solo spin by Tanner Berryhill in turn four on lap 19.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dilbeck led on the restart, but would be overtaken for the top spot by Florida veteran, Jeff Scofield, two laps later.\u00a0 Scofield\u2019s turn up front would be short lived, though, as Dilbeck would go back to the front on lap 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Closing in on the one-third mark of the race, Trey Jarrell would be the man on the move, hooking his Kaytech, Inc.
