His most recent feature win this past Friday night in the 3rd Annual NAPA Auto Parts SK 5k brought him the largest payday of his SK Modified® career. Christopher’s win entitled him to a winner’s share of $11,175 from the over $33,000 in total posted awards.

Christopher started the race from the 13th position with his familiar #13 JVIII Construction / Sterling Security machine and worked his way towards the front, taking the lead for the first time on lap-36. Once Christopher was out front, he never relinquished the lead as he led the final 65 laps of the race to claim his large payday.

Christopher entered the race tied in the SK Modified® points standings with Rowan Pennink and his win, combined with Pennink’s second place finish, moves him into the points lead by 2 points over Pennink.

Pennink stalked Christopher for the last 15 laps of the race and nearly took the lead on several different occasions, but Christopher was too strong to be overtaken. Eric Berndt, who led 29 laps earlier in the race, finished third, with Ronnie Williams and Mike Christopher, Jr. rounding out the top-5.

Woody Pitkat finished sixth with Keith Rocco, Michael Gervais, Jr., Shawn Thibeault, and Jeff Baral rounding out the top-10.

Christopher’s 65 laps led was the most of the night with Berndt leading 29 laps, Brian Sullivan led 5 laps, and Baral led one lap. There were 3 lead changes among 4 drivers and there were only 3 caution periods during the race.

Stafford’s SK Modifieds® return to action this Friday night, July 15th with Girls Night Out and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund Track Walk.

For more information, contact the Stafford Motor Speedway track office at 860-684-2783 or visit us on the web at www.staffordspeedway.com.
###

SK Modified® Race #8

Official Race Results For The NAPA SK 5k – July 8, 2016

Stafford Motor Speedway – Stafford, Conn. – 0.5-mile banked paved oval

Total Race Length 100 Laps – 50 Miles

Fin Str Car Driver Team Sponsor Laps Purse Total Money Won

1 13 13 Ted Christopher JVIII Const. / Sterling Security 100 $5,000 $11,175

2 7 99 Rowan Pennink Independent Wheel / NAPA Van Wickle Auto Supply 100 $2,500 $2,750

3 5 66 Eric Berndt Cos’ Central Auto / North End Auto Parts 100 $1,800 $2,025

4 16 59 Ronnie Williams Advice One / Tick Free Organic Tick Control 100 $1,700 $1,700

5 4 82 Mike Christopher, Jr. Mohawk Northeast / Mosquito Free Organic Mosquito Control 100 $1,600 $1,700

6 14 50 Woody Pitkat Les’s Auto Center / Gunsmoke Stables 100 $1,400 $1,650

7 18 88 Keith Rocco Wheelers Auto 100 $1,300 $1,300

8 9 15 Michael Gervais, Jr. Morrison & Johnson 100 $1,200 $1,350

9 1 58 Shawn Thibeault Enterprise Rental Car / Mike’s Auto Body 100 $1,150 $1,150

10 3 18 Jeff Baral National Sign Corp. / Arbitell Conv.
