Polewarczyk, who posted an 11th-place finish last week in the season opener at Greenville-Pickens Speedway has remained in North Carolina this week to help his Fadden Racing team prepare the No. 16 for South Boston.

WHO: Joey Polewarczyk Jr., Hudson, N.H.
TEAM: No. 16 Fadden Racing Chevrolet
CAREER STARTS AT HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY: 0
BEST CAREER K&N PRO SERIES EAST FINISH: 6th (Sept. 2008, NH Motor Speedway)

WHAT: NASCAR K&N Pro Series East South Boston 150
WHERE: South Boston Speedway, South Boston, Va. It was great to work with whole team and get more comfortable, especially being here all week in Mooresville (N.C.) working with them.

For me, it was about learning how these guys race (in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East). It’s not like the ACT Late Model Tour or anything like that — you’ve almost got to drive it ‘dirty.’ I hate to say that, but if you give these guys an inch out there, they’re going to take a mile. Now I know that. I hate to drive like that, it’s not my style. I won’t drive in a corner and completely run somebody up the hill, I just won’t do that. I don’t drive that way, but at least now I’m ready for it.

I just hope the drivers in this division look back at that race last weekend and relax a little bit. I think there needs to be more respect out there.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SOUTH BOSTON SPEEDWAY?

I went down there with a Super Late Model for the inaugural PASS Mason Dixon Meltdown in 2006. We didn’t make the race. I was in the last-chance (qualifying) race and was in a transfer spot when Alex Haase put down some oil and I got into it.

It’s a nice track, and there’s a pretty good-sized bump going into turn one, so it will be interesting to see how that works with these cars. I like South Boston and I adapted well when I was there in the PASS car, so I’m really looking forward to going back.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE SOUTH BOSTON 150?

It was good to get some experience in race conditions at a short track with these guys. At South Boston, I’ll be that much better.

I wouldn’t say I’d be disappointed with less than a top-10, but we do know we can do it now. I know we can do more than a top-10. I know we have a chance at a top-five, and we’re capable of winning a race there — I know it. We’re working hard this week on the car, on setups and everything else, to be better than we were at Greenville.

JOEY POLEWARCZYK JR.: K&N PRO SERIES EAST South Boston Speedway Race Preview NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, N.H., will compete in the series’ South Boston 150 at South Boston Speedway on Saturday, April 3.
