Racers and fans gathered at Big Daddy\u2019s Speedbowl (formally the
\nPines\/Legion Speedway) on Rt 25 in Wentworth, NH on a beautiful spring
\nSunday for the first annual car show. The racers showed off their
\n2010 cars and had a chance to give them a turn around the newly
\nreconfigured and resurfaced dirt track. Racers and fans alike got a
\nfirst look at the completely renovated racing facility.
\n
\nWhile drivers, owners, and crews caught up after the winter break,
\nphotographers made pictures, and fans admired the freshly painted
\ncreations, the cars were judged. The Best in Show went to Russell
\nChristian\u2019s #07 and Jamie Bezanson\u2019s fantastic #13 \u00bd won the Late
\nModel division. Super Street went to Mark Brown, the Bandit division
\nwas taken by Aliscia Smith, and James Hanson walked off with the
\ntrophy for the Sprint division. The immaculate #07 modified of Jim
\nLowery Jr. from Tilton won the modified division and also the honor of
\nmaking the first official lap on the new track.<\/p>\n
After the \u201cbeauty contest\u201d, any drivers that wanted to try the new
\ntrack were invited to suit up and line up for a few laps. Each driver
\nwas given 10 laps alone on the track to get acquainted with the new
\ntrack configuration First out was Jim Lowery with his modified. The
\nracing lines quickly developed showing the fast way around the \u00bc mile,
\nclay, D-shaped oval. After months of renovations, it was great to
\nfinally see and hear cars in action at the complex.<\/p>\n
The next event at Big Daddy\u2019s is the Test and Tune day scheduled for
\nMay 2nd starting at noon. The event is free for spectators and
\nregistered racecars. Al l classes, including the winged sprint cars,
\nwill be on the track looking for speed. Come out and get a sneak
\npreview of the action coming this summer starting on May 9th.<\/p>\n
Big Daddy\u2019s Speedbowl is a family-friendly facility offering
\nreasonable admission and concessions prices, special activities for
\nkids, and even a family section in the stands. The first race starts
\nat 4:00pm (5:00pm when school is out) on Sunday afternoons. Camping is
\navailable for ticket holders. Opening day is on Sunday May 9th. Come
