{"id":232,"date":"2009-05-26T05:45:39","date_gmt":"2009-05-26T10:45:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2009-05-26T05:45:39","modified_gmt":"2009-05-26T10:45:39","slug":"all-star-speedway-5-23-race-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/all-star-speedway-5-23-race-report\/","title":{"rendered":"All-Star Speedway 5-23 Race Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Epping, NH \u2013 Saturday Night Thunder  returned to the All-Star Speedway last Saturday night, with the All-Star  Modifieds headlining the program once again. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">George Baldwin of Lowell, MA scored  his first career victory in the 40-lap main event, taking the lead from  polesitter Kurt Vigeant at the drop of the green, and never looking  back on his way to victory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Eric Hudson, Joe Lemay, and Brandee  Tree all took a shot at Baldwin along the way, but all had late-race  problems and finished off the pace.\u00a0 Baldwin had to withstand one  final challenge, which came from Todd Annarummo in a two-lap shootout  to the checkers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Baldwin held on for the last two circuits,  flashing under Mike Walker\u2019s checkered flag to score the win.\u00a0  Annarummo settled for runner-up, with J.R. Baril, Sumner Scott, and  Vigeant the rest of the top five.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">The Super Streets contested a 50-lap  main event, with rookies Sulo Burbank and \u201cRacin\u2019 Jason\u201d Ferreira  leading the field to the green flag.\u00a0 Burbank quickly moved out  to take the lead, while Ferreira found trouble and spun just three laps  in, and had to restart at the rear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Burbank held on to the lead for the  first eleven laps, but he lost the top spot to the hard-charging Nick  Gravel on lap 12, and Gravel immediately began to pull away from the  field. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">By halfway, Ferreira had worked his  way back up to second, but there was no stopping Gravel this time out.\u00a0  At the checkers, it was Gravel rolling into victory lane for the second  time this season, with Ferreira taking home a solid runner-up.\u00a0  Steve \u201cPinball\u201d Wilmot, Sam Pirazzo, and Gary Beauregard closed  out the top five.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Former Enduro standout Mark Parenteau  scored his first career win in the Strictly Stock main, racing off to  the win after picking up the point when Keith Walton blew up while leading  on lap 18. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Parenteau had led the first four circuits  before giving up the top spot to Walton, but when he got the lead back,  it was his for the rest of the race.\u00a0 With a tight battle behind  him for the second spot, Parenteau led the balance of the event to pick  up the win. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Chris Augevich held off a tough challenge  from the previous race winner, Mike Williams, to finish in the second  spot, with Keith Ennis taking fourth and Randy Carmichael rounding out  the top five.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;font-size: small\">Josh King took down his second Fast-4  feature win of the season on Saturday night, outrunning Joey Fernandez  to grab the victory.\u00a0 \u201cUncle Dana\u201d Sullivan put on the show  of the night, finishing the race third despite running the last several  laps minus his left-rear wheel.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Epping, NH \u2013 Saturday Night Thunder returned to the All-Star Speedway last Saturday night, with the All-Star Modifieds headlining the program once again.
