Gaudet is busy building a Super Sportsman machine for CFS and decided to get a little seat time on Sunday in the car in which he captured the CFS track championship in 2007. In all three races, Gaudet showed his driving skills by using the outside groove to overtake the field after starting at the tail-end of the
pack.

In both the heat and semifinal, Gaudet crossed the finish line ahead of Doug MacEwen (#40) of Charlottetown and Tim Layton (#6) of Hillsborough, while in the feature event, he chased down last week’s feature winner, Don Marcoux (#27) of St. Louis-de-Kent and used the few inches at his disposal on the inside to capture the win ahead of Marcoux and Layton.

In Mini Stock action, Martin Landry (#00) once again dominated the field to capture all three wins in the heat, semi and 20-lap feature thereby making a strong statement towards this season’s championship which has eluded him by only a few points over the past two seasons. In both the semi-final and feature event, Landry crossed the stripe ahead of Denis Leblanc (#95) and Josh Simon (#71), both from Bouctouche.

In Four Fun division action, Phil Coombes (#15) of Shediac Cape picked up wins in both the
20-lap feature and heat, but had to settle for a third place finish in the semi-final. In the feature, only a few centimeters separated Coombes from second place finisher Serge Robichaud (#63) of St. Charles and the third place driver Corey Thebeau (#33) of Moncton. Robichaud’s consolation was a win in the 15-lap semi-final.

In Super Sportsman action, Luc Bourgeois (#88) of Memramcook continued his early season domination by capturing his second consecutive feature race ahead of rookie Matt Rodgers (#42) of Smithtown and veteran
Bert Cormier (#3) of Bouctouche. Bourgeois enjoyed a sparkling afternoon aboard his Ford Fusion by finishing second in both the semi-final and heat. Meanwhile, 15-year old Rodgers notched his first career Sportsman win in the 10-lap heat and then muscled his way around veteran driver Claude Gaudet (#22) of Grand Barachois with two laps to go in the feature for a well-earned second-place finish in the main event. Gaudet had to settle for first place hardware in the semi-final race.

Finally, in Thrasher division action, Pïerre Leblanc (#111) banged, muscled and drove his 1988 Beach Wagon to the win in the POGO ‘Full Contact’ 50-lap feature to claim the $500 first place prize. Kendall Grigg (#24) of Tyne Valley, PEI crossed the line in second spot aboard his 1992 Lincoln Continental.

Racing returns to CFS in two week, on Sunday, June 13 at 2:00 p.m. with championship points racing in all four divisions of Super Sportsman, Shediac Sportsman, Mini Stock and Four Fun divisions as well as another event in the Thrasher division.

Full schedule details are available at www.centreforspeed.com

About CFS

The CENTRE for Speed (CFS) is a 128-acre motor sports park
which includes Atlantic Canada’s largest and fastest 3/8 of a mile stock car oval as its centerpiece.
