SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Trevor Sanborn opened the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway by winning last Saturday night’s 40-lap Pro Series feature. It was the ninth career victory at the track for Sanborn, who returns to weekly competition on a full-time basis for the first time since 2006. Sanborn led every lap of the event, surviving one restart after starting on the outside pole in the 22-car field.<\/p>\n

I guess, but you never expect it to go quite like that. The car was just awesome all night long. It really was.<\/p>\n

DID ANYTHING CHANGE WITH THE CAR OR THE TRACK BETWEEN THE PASS 150 AT BEECH RIDGE ON MAY 1 AND THE NASCAR WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIES OPENER LAST WEEKEND?<\/p>\n

No, not really. Everything was just what we expected it to be. Ever since we’ve gone there with this car late last season, it’s been really good. We just keep tweaking on it and tweaking on it, and it just keeps getting better and better every time we go back.<\/p>\n

It’s been unbelievable.<\/p>\n

THIS WEEK YOU WON’T HAVE THE LUXURY OF STARTING OUT FRONT ONCE THEY HANDICAP THE STARTING GRID. HOW DO YOU EXPECT THAT TO IMPACT YOUR RACE?<\/p>\n

It will be a little tougher in traffic, but the car should still be pretty much the same. People will be racing side-by-side in front of me, but you just have to be a little bit more patient to pass people. That’s really going to be the biggest thing is patience.<\/p>\n
