{"id":2632,"date":"2010-07-03T08:19:47","date_gmt":"2010-07-03T13:19:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2010-07-03T08:19:47","modified_gmt":"2010-07-03T13:19:47","slug":"quad-4-midget-enhancements-announced-at-whip-city-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/quad-4-midget-enhancements-announced-at-whip-city-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"Quad 4 Midget Enhancements Announced at Whip City Speedway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Quad 4 Midget Enhancements Announced at Whip City Speedway<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BY MARK McKEON<\/p>\n<p>WESTFIELD, MA \u2013 Whip City Speedway co-owner Dave Pighetti has announced a series of enhancements to strengthen the Quad 4 Midget program at the Massachusetts dirt track.<br \/>\n\u201cIn response to requests from the Quad 4 Midget car owners and drivers, we\u2019ve started awarding points and we\u2019ll be crowning a Whip City Quad 4 Midget Champion for the first time this year,\u201d Pighetti said. \u201cWe\u2019re also supporting the efforts of some of the cars owners to recruit additional cars and drivers into the Quad 4 Midget ranks.  We\u2019re making track time available for persons with a serious interest in getting into Quad 4 Midgets.  The track will also be responsible for enforcing the rules on the Quad 4 Midgets, just as we are with all our other racing divisions.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s the most economical form of racing there is,\u201d said Quad 4 Midget owner Rusty Tefft. \u201cIt\u2019s the most fun a Saturday night racer can have for short dollars. We\u2019re trying to put people who might be interested in touch with people who might have equipment available.  We\u2019re not brokers, and we don\u2019t make any money on transactions, we just want to get more people interested in the sport.  Skip Matczak and I have cars that we can make available for a test drive by people who have serious interest.  I have some engines that I\u2019m willing to loan free of charge until the end of the year to any new entrants.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cRusty has the equipment that he has generously offered to loan, what I\u2019m willing to donate is help with set-ups, welding and machine shop services,\u201d said Matczak. \u201cRacing a Midget on dirt without a wing is as exciting as it gets, because the driver and the chassis set-up are more important than the most powerful and most expensive engine.
