Trevor Sanborn of Parsonsfield, Maine, visits one of the few tracks in New England he’s never seen as the PASS North Series runs the Firecracker 150 at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H., on Saturday, July 3. Sanborn has three top-5 finishes in the series’ first four races, including a second and a third since joining Richard Moody Racing on a full-time basis following the second race of the year. Sanborn has never started a race, nor attempted to qualify for one, at Canaan — where PASS has not visited since 2006.<\/p>\n

TREVOR, HOW DO YOU APPROACH RACING ON A TRACK YOU’VE NEVER SEEN?<\/p>\n

You just have to get out there and go for it. That’s all I’ve have ever done. Working with a team like I have helps a lot. The crew chief (Brian Burgess) — I know when we unload there, we’re going to have a pretty good car and the only changes we make are going to be minor ones curing practice.<\/p>\n

It’s just about me adapting to the track. I had a few issues adjusting to track at Unity during the first practice, but in the second and third practices we started to find it. I just have to get the line.<\/p>\n

HAS THE TEAM STARTED TO GEL AFTER A COUPLE OF RACES TOGETHER?<\/p>\n

We’re still trying to figure each other out a little bit. It will come as the races go on. We’re all looking for that first win — I think that will definitely help when we get it.<\/p>\n

We’re very close (to winning). We’ve had such good race cars everywhere we go, finishing second and third. Now I’m looking for that No. 1 spot. I’m tired of seconds and thirds.<\/p>\n

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT CANAAN FAIR SPEEDWAY?<\/p>\n

Not a thing. I’ve never been there, and I know nothing about it, really. I’ve seen it from the outside — I worked up in that area car crushing for my dad a while back. But I’ve never seen the track itself, never even set foot on the grounds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
