Shediac, N.B.) — Long hours of work in the shop this week paid off in spades for Ron Lane (#46) of Prosser Brook as he drove his Maritime Cash Super Sportsman race car to victory in the FERO Maritime Super Series for Sportsman 100 at the Centre for Speed (CFS),
\n Atlantic Canada\u2019s Super Speedway and \u201cMetro Moncton\u2019s Playground of Power\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis makes it all worthwhile,\u201d said a beaming Lane as he savored his first feature win at CFS in over two years. \u201cIt\u2019s thanks to the hard work of my crewmembers and the heart and soul of this team, my dad who put in a lot of hours this week to put this car back together,\u201d said Lane as he dedicated the win to his pit crew.

Lane, who started the 100-lap feature on the outside of the second row, stuck with the lead pack early on. By lap #54, Lane was waging a tooth-and-nail battle with the leader, Claude Gaudet (#22) of Grand Barachois. More than once, Lane moved inside with what appeared to be a small opening, only to see the 2008 CFS Sportsman champion close the door. By lap #77, Gaudet\u2019s tires were starting to show their wear and Lane was finally able to squeeze through on the inside coming out of turn #4 \u2013 a lead he would hold for the win ahead of Cal Hatfield (#11) of Rothesay and rookie sensation Matt Rodgers (#42) of Smithtown. In the 10-lap heat, defending 2009 CFS Sportsman champion Dan Bourque (#15) of Grande-Digue picked up his first win of the 2010 season ahead of Gaudet and Craig Ward (#02) of Riverview.<\/p>\n
In Atlantic Open Wheel (AOW) Modifieds action, Mark Price (#9) of Saint John captured his second win in a row with a dramatic move with only two laps remaining in the 35-lap feature race. Price, who started the feature event near the rear of the field, patiently made his way through the pack and battled to stay in front with four other drivers. Mike Rayburn (#98) of Hampton was the early leader, with four AOW racecars either parked on his rear bumper or trying their luck on the outside groove. Joe Hoyt (#17) of Wassis then made his move on
\n the outside during a restart on lap #20, with Price moving into third position. For the next 13 laps, both Rayburn and Price pressed Hoyt hard with Price finally making his own move on the outside with two laps remaining, crossing the stripe a few centimeters ahead of Hoyt and Rayburn. Rayburn and Hoyt both got to enjoy a victory lap earlier in the event as Rayburn captured the win in the 10-lap semifinal while Hoyt was victorious in the second heat. The first heat win went to rookie Dale Young (#14) of Mount Hope, N.B.<\/p>\n
Tim Layton (#6) of
\n Hillsborough also made it two feature wins in a row as he picked up the win in the afternoon\u2019s Shediac Sportsman 25-lap feature, crossing the stripe ahead of Don Marcoux (#27) of St.-Louis-de-Kent and Tyler Rossiter (#14) of Weldon. Layton also picked up the first place hardware in the semifinal while Rossiter picked up his first win of the 2010 season in the 10-lap heat.<\/p>\n
In Mini Stock action, 15-year old rookie Julien Leblanc (#07) of Haute Aboujagane backed up
\n last weekend\u2019s first career feature win by making it two in a row in a hard-fought battle with Michel Brun (#77) of Grand Barachois. Brun had to settle for second, while Denis \u2018D.P.\u2019 Leblanc (#95) of Bouctouche was very happy with his third place showing after spending 25 hours rebuilding the front end of his Honda Accord after a hard hit with the wall the previous week. Leblanc also picked up the win in the semifinal while points leader Martin Landry (#00) of Grand Barachois was victorious in the heat. <\/p>\n
In Four Fun division action, rookie Scott Bourque (#69) of Cap Pel\u00e9 picked up his first career win at CFS
\n in the 35-lap feature, crossing the finish line ahead of Stephen Lively (#1) of Shubenacadie, N.S. and veteran Eugene Weagle (#60) of Petitcodiac. In the semifinal, it was Weagle picking up his first win of the 2010 season while Wilfred Simon (#10) of Bouctouche was first across the stripe in the 10-lap heat.<\/p>\n
Next weekend, the CFS will host a double-header weekend with points championship racing in all four regular stock car divisions along with the Atlantic Open Wheel (AOW) Modifieds on Saturday evening, July
\n 10th at 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
Then on Sunday, July 11th, the Maple Leaf Monster Truck Madness 2010 invades the CENTRE for an afternoon of \u2018outdoors and unleashed\u2019 competition. A field of seven top Monster Trucks featuring Crushstation, Eradicator, Backdraft, War Eagle, Screamin Demon, Dominator, and Razin Kane will be on hand at CFS for the biggest MONSTER TRUCK show to ever hit the Maritimes!<\/p>\n
The large open infield at the CENTRE, which will feature two-side-by-side ovals, will provide the drivers with loads of opportunity to showcase the awesome horsepower and handling of these awe-inspiring 1,800 horsepower machines.<\/p>\n
After an on-track photo and autograph session starting at 3:00 p.m., these car crushing machines will be \u2018unleashed\u2019 at 4:00 p.m. with side-by-side obstacle races, freestyle and wheelie competitions.<\/p>\n
To round out this two-and-one-half hour show, the July 11th event will also include a full suite of Thrasher division action with an always unpredictable \u2018Barrell Race\u2019 capped off by a GIANT Demolition Derby.<\/p>\n
