BOBBY SANTOS, III LEADS WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP CHARGE INTO
\nSTAFFORD FOR TOWN FAIR TIRE 150<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Stafford Springs, CT)—As the Whelen Modified Tour returns to Stafford
\nMotor Speedway for the Town Fair Tire 150, the third of four stops for the
\nTour in 2010, Bobby Santos, III sits ahead of three former series champions
\nin the chase for the 2010 title. Giving chase to Santos are 2008 champion
\nTed Christopher, 2003 champion Todd Szegedy, and 7-time Tour champion Mike
\nStefanik.
\n\u201cRight now our goal is to win races,\u201d said Santos. \u201cI\u2019ve never raced for
\npoints before this year. At the start of this season, we were only focused
\non winning races and that was how we were able to build up our points lead.
\nThere\u2019s no reason why we can\u2019t continue to run up front and win races this
\nyear.\u201d
\nSantos got the 2010 season off to a rocking start, winning three of the
\nfirst four races, but he has lost points to Christopher in each of the races
\nsince. But if there was a track where Santos can get himself back to his
\nwinning ways, it is Stafford. Santos has been the fast car in time trials
\nin each of the first two Stafford races this season, and he has finishes of
\nfirst and second.
\n\u201cI\u2019m excited to get back to racing at Stafford,\u201d said Santos. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a
\nrough few weeks, but it will be nice to get back to tracks like Stafford so
\nwe can get back to where we need to be. Stafford is one of my favorite
\ntracks, it\u2019s a place that I enjoy going to, and it always helps your
\nconfidence when you like the track that you\u2019re racing at. With how well we\u2019
\nve run at Stafford in the first two races this season, hopefully we can
\ncarry some momentum for the rest of the year with another good run at
\nStafford. We don\u2019t need to change anything, we had a motor problem at Lime
\nRock and there\u2019s nothing that you can do about that. The next four races
\nover the next couple weeks are going to be the most important races of the
\nseason. The team is awesome, they\u2019ve done a great job this year and we\u2019re
\nreal confident heading into these next couple of races.\u201d
\nSantos certainly knows what it takes to get to victory lane at Stafford,
\nhaving won the May TSI Harley-Davidson 125 as well as having won 2 NEMA
\nMidget races. Santos also won the Midget and PRA Big Car races as part of
\nCARQUEST\u2019s Big One in 2006, earning him a $50,000 bonus from Valvoline.
\n\u201cStafford is a track where you can win by either taking tires or staying out
\nand not taking tires,\u201d said Santos. \u201cMe personally, I like putting fresh
\ntires on the car and be charging at the end of the race. We\u2019ll just have to
\nlet the race play out and see what happens to see what strategy we go with.
\nIt definitely helps that the team has experience in running for a
\nchampionship, the guys all know what to do and we\u2019re going to keep
\napproaching things like we have all year and try to win.\u201d
\nTickets for the 20th Annual Town Fair Tire 150 are on sale now at the
\nSpeedway Box Office and are price at $30.00 for adult general admission
\ntickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are
\nadmitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is
\npriced at $32.00 for all ages. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers
\nfree parking with overnight parking available.
