The first night of Saturday racing was well received by race teams and fans as evidenced by a solid car count and a great fan turnout.

The SCoNE Sprint Cars made their fourth appearance of the season this week sharing the race card with the 5 regular stock car divisions. Dan Boune’s track crew did their magic preparing a fast and smooth surface for the racers.

The afternoon started with hot laps, followed by the drivers meeting and qualifying heats. The track was a busy place at intermission with the track crew preparing the clay racing surface for the features, crews preping their cars, hungry fans visiting the concession stand, and the kids heading for the Kids Club to meet last week’s Super Street feature winner Mark Brown (47). The night’s feature events were next.

The Cutting Edge Graphix/Keyser Trucking Super Street feature was the first of the feature races of the evening. Plymouth’s Marc Jenot (88) was strong in his qualifier and led the early laps, but points leader Derek O’Hearn (14) of Campton quickly made his way to the front and stayed there for the win. Last week’s winner, Mark Brown (47), battled his way to 2nd place. Jason Giguere (23) took third on his first visit to Big Daddy’s.

The wicked fast SCoNE sprint cars provided a tremendous show. Donnie Sharp Jr (28) started on the outside pole and quickly passed Si Allen (30) and set sail. While Donnie cruised out front, Chris Donnelly (20) and Tunk Berry (11), starting from the back row, sliced through the field putting on a demonstration of driving skill. They made it to the front, but couldn’t deal with Sharp. Donnie Sharp got the win and Donnelly and Berry settled for 2nd and 3rd respectively. What a race! This was SCoNE’s last regular tour visit for the year and they made a reverse parade lap (the drivers are more visible from the left side of the car) to thank the fans. We look forward to the return of SCoNE on September 4th for the Triple Crown Weekend Series.

Starting from the pole, Campton’s JP Vallancourt (14x) led most of the Camaro Heaven Bandit division feature race. When Alicia Smith (88) lost a wheel late in the race bringing out a yellow, the field was bunched for a 2 lap dash to the finish. Points leader Marcus Jenness (19), also of Campton, passed Vaillancourt on the outside for the lead and N. Haverhill’s Scott Blake dived under the 14x for 2nd and nearly caught Jenness at the finish. Marcuss took the win by 3 feet. The Bandits put on one of the best and cleanest races of the night.

Todd Petschke (09) of Windor, Vt started on the pole in the Mid-State Trucking Modifieds feature and led every lap of the race. Points leader Ryan Avery (01) of Thorton, NH took 2nd place and 2009 Track Champion from Warren David Heath (15) worked his way up to 3rd. In his victory circle interview Ryan Avery thanked Central Metal Recycling, located next to the Speedbowl, for the unscheduled repairs done during intermission by Late Model driver Brad Shanks (8). The Modified drivers commented on how much bit the track had.

The growing Mike’s Automotive Outlaw Late Model division was won by an exuberant Dan Collins (4) of W. Cannan. Dan’s Late Model has been getting better each week and the handling and suspension looked perfect tonight. Points leader Brad Shanks (8) of Rumney drove to 2nd place followed by Mike McClay (82) of Holderness, NH.

Leon Dugan (71) of Grafton, NH won his second consecutive OE Parts Direct Mini-Stock feature with his “new” black and red Mini Stocker. Leon was absolutely flying into the corners on the smooth track. Matt Morrill (9) of Center Harbor and VP Vallancourt (14x) of Campton finished 2nd and 3rd.

Join us next week, August 14th, at 4:00pm for Big Daddy’s 5 regular divisions plus the Kid’s Bike Races.
