It was another exciting night of racing at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl in
\nWentworth NH. The weather was great and the track was fast. The racing
\ncard for this week was the track\u2019s 5 regular divisions plus the new
\nweekly invitational race for Granite State Mini Sprinters.
\n
\nThe feature race for the Mid-State Trucking Modified division stayed
\ngreen for its entire 20 laps. David “Mad Trucker” Heath (15) of Warren
\ncame away with the Central Metals trophy, having led every lap. Rising
\nstar James Capps III (64) of Penacook finished second, his first trip
\nto the podium, and Travis Shinn (11) of Groton, NH took third.<\/p>\n
Another Warren driver, Marcus “Animal” Jenness (19), won the Camaro
\nHeaven Bandits’ feature in a borrowed car. Alicia Smith (88) of Center
\nHarbor led most of the race, but had to settle for second, followed by
\nMeredith\u2019s James “Tumbler” Nutting (99).<\/p>\n
Points leader Derek O’Hearn (14) of Campton again won the main event
\nfor the Cutting Edge Graphix\/Keyser Trucking Super Street class.
\nSecond went to Jack “Wild Child” Whynot (27) Laconia and third was
\nMark Brown (47) Rumney.<\/p>\n
The Mike’s Automotive Late Model division was running for double
\npoints tonight, after voting to run for no points last week, because
\none of their strongest drivers, “Dangerous” Dan Collins (4) of W.
\nCannan had a commitment and they didn’t want to hurt his championship
\nchances when circumstances were beyond his control. This week
\nanother contender, Jamie Bezanson (13 1\/2) of Concord developed engine
\ntrouble during the heat and had to watch the feature from his trailer.
\nRumney\u2019s Brad Shanks won the event in his “Dirt Track Cadillac” (8),
\nfollowed by Mike McClay (82) of Holderness and “Dangerous” Dan.<\/p>\n
Center Harbor\u2019s Matt Morrill (9) won a hard-fought OE Parts Direct
\nMini-Stock feature over Taylor Fletcher (27) of Laconia and Dana
\nWhiting (04) of Peancook.<\/p>\n
The evening finished with a 50-lap enduro for 4 and 6 cylinder cars.
\nChris Kirk (78x) completed the 50 laps first. Second went to Mike
\nBrown (07) and third was Josh Atwood (08).<\/p>\n
Join us this coming week at Big Daddy\u2019s Speedbowl when we run on
\nSunday September 5 at 4:00pm due to a earlier schedule commitment to
\nSprint Cars of New England (ScoNE). The mighty 360 winged sprinters
\nare running a special three day Triple Crown event with races on
\nFriday night at Canaan Fair Speedway, Saturday night at Bear Ridge
\nSpeedway, and on Sunday at Big Daddy\u2019s Speedbowl. The Triple Crown
\nwinner will be determined by the combined points of the three nights
\nof racing. Along with the ScoNE sprint cars, our regular 5 divisions
\nwill be in competition. Remember, next week is a Sunday race for this
\none week only.<\/p>\n
