Polewarczyk dominated the first two-thirds of the event — starting on the outside pole and leading on a remarkable seven different occasions totaling more than 150 laps before aging tires over the closing stages dropped his No. 97 Ford in the running order. He was the only driver to finish in the Top-10 that did not opt to put for fresh tires at some point in the event. It was Polewarczyk’s seventh Top-10 finish in 10 starts this season.

WHO: Joey Polewarczyk Jr., Hudson, N.H.
TEAM: Pole’s Automotive/NH Precision No. 97 Ford

WHAT: ACT Late Model Tour Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200
WHERE: Thunder Road International Speedbowl, Barre, Vt. (.500-mile oval)

*******

JOEY, HOW WOULD YOU SUM UP YOUR DAY AT THUNDER ROAD?

It was a great day. We led a lot of laps. We figured out a good setup to run here, and we gained a lot on what we had previousy here in the spring. I’m definitely excited to come back here (next month) for the Milk Bowl.

We led the most laps and we had, I think, a dominant car. Then at the end, a lot of guys pitted for tires. We had the lead and were in one of those situations where do you pit or do you not pit? We stayed out, and it bit us at the end.

HOW MUCH DISCUSSION DID THE TEAM HAVE ABOUT WHETHER TO MAKE A PIT STOP FOR TIRES?

Zero. We didn’t even talk about it. We probably should have, but for a while there it was all green flag (racing). If it stayed green flag, we would have been fine. But at the end there we had a lot of yellows, and it brought everybody back to us.

It’s just one of those deals. You learn from it for next time, but we’re really looking forward to coming back here for that Milk Bowl… This defnitely gives us a good feeling going into that.

SO, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU WALK AWAY PRETTY HAPPY.

A Top-10 at Thunder Road, that’s pretty good. There are only a couple of marks on the car, and we had a great run with Brian (Hoar) racing for the lead. All in all, it was just a really good day.

Unfortunately, Brent (Dragon) had troubles, but that’s going to help us in the points. John Donahue didn’t finish that far ahead of us, and we got extra bonus points for leading the most laps. It’s going to tighten things up for second (in the ACT Late Model Tour standings). It will be interesting to see.

Joey Polewarczyk Jr.: ACT Late Model Tour Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl Race Report 　 Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, N.H., finished eighth in the ACT Late Model Tour Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt., on Sunday, September 5.
