{"id":3796,"date":"2010-11-16T21:45:17","date_gmt":"2010-11-17T02:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2010-11-16T21:18:48","modified_gmt":"2010-11-17T02:18:48","slug":"josh-sylvester-wins-reliable-welding-speed-sk-modified%c2%ae-rookie-year-honors-stafford-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/josh-sylvester-wins-reliable-welding-speed-sk-modified%c2%ae-rookie-year-honors-stafford-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"JOSH SYLVESTER WINS RELIABLE WELDING AND SPEED SK MODIFIED\u00ae ROOKIE OF THE YEAR HONORS AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>JOSH SYLVESTER WINS RELIABLE WELDING AND SPEED SK MODIFIED\u00ae ROOKIE OF THE YEAR HONORS AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Stafford Springs, CT)&#8212;For the second time in his racing career, Josh<br \/>\nSylvester has become a Reliable Welding and Speed Rookie of the Year winner.<br \/>\nSylvester previously was the 2007 SK Light Modified Rookie of the Year and<br \/>\nhe is now the 2010 SK Modified\u00ae Rookie of the Year, outlasting a pair of<br \/>\nformer SK Light Modified drivers in John Montesanto and Michael Gervais, Jr.<br \/>\nFor the season, Sylvester drove to 1 top-5 and 5 top-10 finishes this season<br \/>\nto finish in 16th place in the SK Modified\u00ae standings.<!--more--><br \/>\n\u201cI didn\u2019t really consider myself a rookie,\u201d said Sylvester.  \u201cThis was my<br \/>\nthird season driving an SK car and we ran the Fall Final race at Stafford<br \/>\nlast year, so we knew what we were getting into.\u201d<br \/>\nSylvester and the #21 Silberman Heating and Cooling team began the year with<br \/>\na near top-10 as they finished 11th in the season opening Spring Sizzler,<br \/>\nbut they struggled to get a good finish until the SK Modified\u00ae 100, where<br \/>\nSylvester earned his first top-10 finish of the year with a 7th place<br \/>\nfinish.  Sylvester and the team caught fire towards the end of the season<br \/>\nwith 3 of their 5 top-10 finishes coming in the last 5 races of the year,<br \/>\nincluding their season best finish of 5th on September 10th.<br \/>\n\u201cIt was a bit of a frustrating season,\u201d said Sylvester.  \u201cWe didn\u2019t<br \/>\naccomplish all of our goals this year, but it was nice to be able to win the<br \/>\nrookie title for the guys on the crew.  We had one top-5 finish this year,<br \/>\nbut I felt like we had a couple of races where we should have finished in<br \/>\nthe top-10.  Normally, I was helping my brother Zach and working on his car,<br \/>\nand it was a lot of fun to be able to race with him this season.\u201d<br \/>\nSylvester will not return to Stafford with the #21 team for the 2011 season<br \/>\nas he will move back to his own car and run limited events while again<br \/>\nhelping his brother Zach with his SK effort.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019ve parted ways with the #21 team,\u201d said Sylvester.  \u201cI\u2019m going to run<br \/>\nsome limited shows next year with my own car.
