{"id":4061,"date":"2011-01-05T23:58:34","date_gmt":"2011-01-06T04:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2011-01-05T20:59:06","modified_gmt":"2011-01-06T01:59:06","slug":"engraving-awards-gifts-rallycross-kick-2011-racing-season-stafford-motor-speedway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2011\/01\/engraving-awards-gifts-rallycross-kick-2011-racing-season-stafford-motor-speedway\/","title":{"rendered":"ENGRAVING AWARDS AND GIFTS RALLYCROSS TO KICK OFF 2011 RACING SEASON AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ENGRAVING AWARDS AND GIFTS RALLYCROSS TO KICK OFF 2011 RACING SEASON AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(Stafford Springs, CT)&#8212;With the colder temperatures beginning to bring<br \/>\nsnow to the Northeast, Stafford Motor Speedway is gearing up for its first<br \/>\nevent of its 2011 schedule with the Engraving Awards and Gifts RallyCross<br \/>\nand Eastern States RallyCross Challenge Championship on January 15 and 16.<br \/>\nAs part of the New England Region SCCA RallyCross season, drivers will<br \/>\nparticipate in two New England Region Championship events as well as the<br \/>\nEastern States RallyCross Challenge Championship over a two-day period.<br \/>\nDrivers will be eligible to win SCCA Contingency Awards and they will<br \/>\ncompete to establish who is the best RallyCross driver in the Northeast.<br \/>\nRallyCross is a timed competition pitting a driver and vehicle against a<br \/>\ndefined course.  Courses are set up on a non-paved surface such as dirt,<br \/>\ngravel, or snow, and drivers attempt to make their way through the course as<br \/>\nfast as possible.  At the end of the event, all of a driver&#8217;s times are<br \/>\nadded together.  The total times of each driver within a class are compared<br \/>\nand the driver with the lowest cumulative time in each race class is the<br \/>\nwinner.  The Stafford course is setup throughout the vast parking lot at the<br \/>\nSpeedway with a series of both high and low speed corners.<!--more--><br \/>\nRallyCross is open to all types of vehicles and drivers.  Most drivers race<br \/>\nthe same car they drive to work each day.  Cars must be mechanically sound<br \/>\nand have working seat belts and a hard top, and all loose items from the<br \/>\ninterior and trunk of the vehicle need to be removed for safety.  Drivers<br \/>\nare required to have a helmet with a rating of Snell 95 or newer.  There are<br \/>\nseveral different classes of vehicles, based on the vehicle and<br \/>\nmodifications made to the vehicle.
