The field for the CARQUEST Champions for Charities race is<br \/>\nimpressive, as it represents 42 championships among 12 drivers and 5<br \/>\ndifferent open wheel divisions.  Todd Szegedy, the 2003 NASCAR Whelen<br \/>\nModified Tour Champion, will be racing to help support The Foundation For<br \/>\nLife.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe Foundation For Life is an organization which provides funding in<br \/>\nConnecticut for underprivileged children.  Their motto is to make children\u2019s<br \/>\ndreams come true by providing scholarships, bikes, school clothes and<br \/>\nsupplies, various playgrounds in CT, and provide volunteers to teach Junior<br \/>\nAchievement in CT elementary schools.  They have also assisted in the ABC<br \/>\nExtreme Makeover Home Edition in Bridgeport, CT by paying off the owner\u2019s<br \/>\nmortgage.  Since 2006, the Foundation for Life has distributed over $350,000<br \/>\nto organizations in Connecticut who are working to better the lives of those<br \/>\nin need throughout the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Foundation for Life is a great organization which gives back to<br \/>\ncommunities who are in need of giving throughout the state of Connecticut,\u201d<br \/>\nsaid Szegedy.  \u201cMike and I are extremely proud to represent the Foundation<br \/>\nFor Life and we hope to raise a lot of money for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Szegedy is the 2003 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion and he also holds<br \/>\nthe distinction of being the only SK Modified\u00ae driver to win the SK<br \/>\nModified\u00ae feature event after winning the Coors Light 21 Means 21 feature<br \/>\nand transferring into the main feature.  Szegedy was also part of one of the<br \/>\nmore memorable Stafford moments when he barrel rolled his SK Modified\u00ae<br \/>\nduring the Spring Sizzler feature event in 2000.  Szegedy has never driven a<br \/>\nWild Thing Kart and has never raced around the Stafford Mini-Mile, but he is<br \/>\nlooking forward to the race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never driven these type of go karts before, but I do have WKA and IKS<br \/>\nkart experience,\u201d said Szegedy.  \u201cI\u2019m going to have to learn how to drive a<br \/>\ngo kart all over again and the mini-mile will be a different challenge, but<br \/>\nit will be fun to race against the drivers that I\u2019ll be racing against.\u201d<br \/>\nThe starting lineups for the CARQUEST Champions For Charities qualifying<br \/>\nraces will be determined by how much money each driver raises for their<br \/>\nselected charity.  The starting grid will be set with the drivers who have<br \/>\nraised the most money starting up front.  Fans are encouraged to get<br \/>\ninvolved in the event by donating to their favorite driver or favorite<br \/>\ncharity. Reserved seating is priced at $32.00<br \/>\nfor all ages.
