STAFFORD SPEEDWAY ADDS IZOD INDYCAR VETERAN DAVEY HAMILTON TO CARQUEST CHAMPIONS FOR CHARITIES DRIVER LINEUP<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Stafford Springs, CT)—The June 28th CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions
\nfor Charities Event at Stafford Motor Speedway has added an Indy 500 flair
\nwith the addition of \u201c500\u201d Veteran Davey Hamilton. Hamilton will take part
\nin the CARQUEST Champions For Charities go kart race while racing for The
\nVictory Junction Gang Camp. The Victory Junction Gang Camp was built in
\nhonor of Adam Petty and they provide life-changing experiences for children
\nwith chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love to be able to help kids,\u201d said Hamilton. \u201cWe\u2019re very fortunate in
\nthat we are able to do what we do racing cars and anytime I can do something
\nfor kids, I always like to help out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hamilton is a veteran of West Coast Supermodified competition, winning a
\ntotal of 6 championships from 1987-1991 in Northwest Supermodified
\nAssociation, Western States Supermodified Tour, Supermodified Racing
\nAssociation, and Injected Fire and Fury Series supermodified competition.
\nHamilton\u2019s Supermodified success carried him to the world of IndyCars.
\nHis IZOD IndyCar career started in 1996, with the Idaho native finishing the
\n9th in the Series point chase. Hamilton finished second in IZOD IndyCar
\npoints for two consecutive years, finishing behind Tony Stewart in 1997 and
\nKenny Brack in 1998. Hamilton took part in every IndyCar Series race from
\nthe series\u2019 inception in 1996 through the Texas race in 2001 when injuries
\nsustained from a crash ended his streak of consecutive starts at 48 races.
\nHamilton has made 10 career starts in the Indy 500 and his best finish was a
\nfourth place in 1998. His appearance in a Wild Thing Kart Senior Outlaw
\nmachine for the CARQUEST Champions for Charities event will take him back
\nto his early racing days.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been years since I\u2019ve been behind the wheel of a go kart,\u201d said
\nHamilton. \u201cMy son races go karts and I spend all my time working on them, I
\nhaven\u2019t had the chance to drive. It\u2019s going to be pretty cool to be able to
\nrace a go kart for charity.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to his CARQUEST Champions For Charities appearance, Hamilton
\nhopes to also test his West Coast Supermodified skills in the headline event
\nthat night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m working on a deal right now with Mike Muldoon to drive one of his ISMA
\nsupers,\u201d said Hamilton. \u201cThe supers are my favorite cars to drive, that\u2019s
\nwhere it all got started for me. Without racing supermodifieds on the west
\ncoast, I never would have had the opportunity that I did to go IndyCar
\nracing. I\u2019ve only been to Stafford once before and that was as a spectator,
\nbut I was very impressed with the facility and the speed of the cars. I\u2019m
\nexcited about coming back to race at Stafford and I\u2019m looking forward to
\nraising some money for charity.\u201d<\/p>\n

CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday will take place on June 28, 2011 and will also
\nfeature the ISMA Super Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, and Pro-4 Modifieds.
\nTickets for CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday are on sale now at the Speedway Box
\nOffice and are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00
\nfor children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of
\ncharge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is priced at $32.00
\nfor all ages. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with
\novernight parking available.<\/p>\n
