The impressive field of open wheeled
division champion drivers represents 42 championships among 12 drivers.
This week’s spotlight is on Chris Perley, the 6-time ISMA Supermodified
Champion, and he will be racing to raise funds for the North Shore Arthritis
Walk in Honor of Katie Blouin.

“We’re family acquaintances of Katie, and having a daughter myself, when
something like this affects someone in your community, it definitely hits
home,” said Perley. “Katie has rheumatoid arthritis and that is something
that she is going to have to deal with for the rest of her life, so we want
to help raise some money that will go towards finding a cure. Katie was the
ambassador for last year’s Arthritis Walk, and she is a great girl and she
comes from a great family. This is the first time I’ve been part of
something like this and I’ll be part of the Arthritis Walk on May 22nd.”

When it comes to ISMA Supermodified competition, there are not many drivers
that can match Perley’s accomplishments. Perley won 6 ISMA Supermodified
championships from 2003-2009 and he has over 50 career victories. Perley
has enjoyed a fair share of success at Stafford behind the wheel of his ISMA
Supermodified machine, winning four of the first seven CARQUEST Extreme
Tuesday Events. Perley will face a new challenge when he gets behind the
wheel of the Senior Outlaw Kart for the 20-lap CARQUEST Champions For
Charities around the Stafford Mini-Mile.

“It’s been a while since I’ve driven a go kart,” said Perley. “Any time you
can jump into something new to drive it’s a lot of fun. This race is going
to be a neat deal and it’s nice to have the fans be part of the show with
their donations determining the lineups. I’m sure that we’ll all respect
each other out there on the track and hopefully we can put on a good show
for the fans and raise some money for some great charities.”

The starting lineups for the CARQUEST Champions For Charities qualifying
races will be determined by how much money each driver raises for their
selected charity. The starting grid will be set with the drivers who have
raised the most money starting up front. Fans are encouraged to get
involved in the event by donating to their favorite driver or favorite
charity. To make a donation to the Arthritis Walk in Honor of Katie Blouin
on behalf of Chris Perley, and for more information on the event, please
refer to the CARQUEST Champions for Charities donation page located at
www.staffordspeedway.com. I
was tied with Russ [Wood] at 6 championships and after he won the
championship last year he told me that I would have to race at least one
more full year to try to get tied with him again.”

CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday will take place on June 28, 2011 and will also
feature the ISMA Super Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, and Pro-4 Modifieds.
Tickets for CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday are on sale now at the Speedway Box
Office and are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00
for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of
charge when accompanied by an adult.
