CARQUEST CHAMPIONS FOR CHARITIES DRIVER SPOTLIGHT: CHRIS PERLEY<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Stafford Springs, CT)—The CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions for
\nCharities Event at Stafford Motor Speedway scheduled for June 28th is
\nbuilding in momentum and excitement as the drivers gear up to raise funds
\nfor their respective charities. The impressive field of open wheeled
\ndivision champion drivers represents 42 championships among 12 drivers.
\nThis week\u2019s spotlight is on Chris Perley, the 6-time ISMA Supermodified
\nChampion, and he will be racing to raise funds for the North Shore Arthritis
\nWalk in Honor of Katie Blouin.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re family acquaintances of Katie, and having a daughter myself, when
\nsomething like this affects someone in your community, it definitely hits
\nhome,\u201d said Perley. \u201cKatie has rheumatoid arthritis and that is something
\nthat she is going to have to deal with for the rest of her life, so we want
\nto help raise some money that will go towards finding a cure. Katie was the
\nambassador for last year\u2019s Arthritis Walk, and she is a great girl and she
\ncomes from a great family. This is the first time I\u2019ve been part of
\nsomething like this and I\u2019ll be part of the Arthritis Walk on May 22nd.\u201d<\/p>\n

When it comes to ISMA Supermodified competition, there are not many drivers
\nthat can match Perley\u2019s accomplishments. Perley won 6 ISMA Supermodified
\nchampionships from 2003-2009 and he has over 50 career victories. Perley
\nhas enjoyed a fair share of success at Stafford behind the wheel of his ISMA
\nSupermodified machine, winning four of the first seven CARQUEST Extreme
\nTuesday Events. Perley will face a new challenge when he gets behind the
\nwheel of the Senior Outlaw Kart for the 20-lap CARQUEST Champions For
\nCharities around the Stafford Mini-Mile.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a while since I\u2019ve driven a go kart,\u201d said Perley. \u201cAny time you
\ncan jump into something new to drive it\u2019s a lot of fun. This race is going
\nto be a neat deal and it\u2019s nice to have the fans be part of the show with
\ntheir donations determining the lineups. I\u2019m sure that we\u2019ll all respect
\neach other out there on the track and hopefully we can put on a good show
\nfor the fans and raise some money for some great charities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The starting lineups for the CARQUEST Champions For Charities qualifying
\nraces will be determined by how much money each driver raises for their
\nselected charity. The starting grid will be set with the drivers who have
\nraised the most money starting up front. Fans are encouraged to get
\ninvolved in the event by donating to their favorite driver or favorite

In addition to his CARQUEST Champions For Charities duties, Perley will be
\nbehind the wheel of his familiar #11 for the 50-lap ISMA Supermodifed event
\nand will be looking to record his fifth Stafford victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Stafford, it has two really nice grooves and I have some good
\nhistory there,\u201d said Perley. \u201cWe\u2019re going to race a limited schedule again,
\nbut if we can do as well as we did last year, then we\u2019ll be pretty happy. I
\nwas tied with Russ [Wood] at 6 championships and after he won the
\nchampionship last year he told me that I would have to race at least one
\nmore full year to try to get tied with him again.\u201d<\/p>\n

CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday will take place on June 28, 2011 and will also
\nfeature the ISMA Super Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, and Pro-4 Modifieds.
\nTickets for CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday are on sale now at the Speedway Box
\nOffice and are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00
\nfor children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of
\ncharge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is priced at $32.00
\nfor all ages. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with
\novernight parking available.<\/p>\n
