A social hour with lots of stories about this year\u2019s eight ice races was followed by a fantastic prime rib dinner.  With the preliminary socializing and eating out of the way, club patriarch and long time ice and dirt racer Jack Cook MC\u2019d the recognitions portion of the evening.<\/p>\n<p>One of the first pieces of business was to present the Norris Cotton Cancer Center with a check for $8,000.  The donation was made possible by the club\u2019s annual Latchkey Cup charity event held this year on Jan 29th.  The pledges collected by the drivers, the sponsor donations, and the Lakes Region fan support combined to make this generous donation possible.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe many hard working club volunteers from the gate people to the plow guys were recognized, special awards were presented, and the race division champions were crowned.  The big trophies for the champions went to Shane Eldridge (75) Stock division, Jack Cook (14) Modified division, Tim Chase (40) Rear Wheel Drive division, Justin Eldridge (74) Front Wheel Drive division, and Alicia Taylor (7) in the Junior division.  [Note to editor:  Alicia Taylor is Jack Cook&#8217;s granddaughter; Shane and Justin Eldridge are cousins.]<\/p>\n<p>Our friends from the New England Ice Racing Association from the Milton area and the Jaffery Ice Racing Association took part in a couple of this year\u2019s events and did very well for themselves.  We hope they join us again next year.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a racer and would like to try racing on the ice in 2012, check the Club website for rules and contact one of the listed club members to learn how to get involved.  If you are a race fan or just a \u201ccabin fever victim\u201d that has never been to an oval track ice race, the club starts racing next year after the holidays.
