The race was the season opener for the Valenti Modified<br \/>\nRacing Series.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nAfter flagman John Spence Jr dropped the green flag on the brand new<br \/>\nseason, the front row starters turned out to be the show.<\/p>\n<p>Pasteryak jumped into the lead with pole-sitter Doug Coby of Milford<br \/>\n(CT) giving chase until he took the lead on lap 36. Coby, looking to<br \/>\nscore the hat-trick, his third consecutive opening day VMRS race, set the<br \/>\npace for the next 50 laps until Pasteryak took the top spot back on lap<br \/>\n85. Pasteryak made it easy work over the final 15 circuits to pick up his<br \/>\nsecond victory at his home track and his fourth career VMRS win.<\/p>\n<p>Pasteryak\u2019s first VMRS win at Waterford was in 2008, his championship<br \/>\nseason. His last victory was in August 2009 at Seekonk (MA) Speedway,<\/p>\n<p>\u201c It\u2019s been awhile,\u201d said a happy Pasteryak in victory lane.\u201cThis is a nice<br \/>\nway to start the season. Doug ran a great race. Tires were good. It was<br \/>\nfun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Todd Annarummo, of Swansea, (MA), finished third with a late race<br \/>\ncharge by Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon Valley, (PA), and Les Hinckley,<br \/>\nWindsor Locks, (CT), finishing fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Nashua, (NH), veteran Norman Wrenn, who started fourth and ran in the<br \/>\ntop five until lap 89, finished sixth, 15 year old Tommy Barrett, of<br \/>\nMillis, (MA), a high school sophomore was seventh, Jacob Dore, Sanford,<br \/>\n(ME), eighth, Eric Goodale, Wading River, (NY), ninth, and Matt<\/p>\n<p>26 drivers started the race with 18 finishing. 11 drivers finished on the<br \/>\nlead lap.<\/p>\n<p>The next event for the Valenti Modified Racing Series will be Saturday,<br \/>\nApril 30, at Monadnock Speedway, Winchester, (NH) at 6:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p>Race Summary: Race # 1<br \/>\nWaterford Speedbowl<br \/>\nDistance: 100 laps<br \/>\nTime of Race: 45:25:240<br \/>\nMargin of Victory: 0672<br \/>\nBest Lap Time: 14.212<br \/>\nBest Lap By: Jon McKennedy<br \/>\nBest Speed 94.990<\/p>\n<p>Lap Leaders: Pasteryak (1-35) Coby (36-85) Pasteryak (86-100)<\/p>\n<p>Cautions: (4) (Laps 8, 9,16, 63)<\/p>\n<p>Order of Finish:<\/p>\n<p>1.
