CARQUEST CHAMPIONS FOR CHARITIES DRIVER SPOTLIGHT: BOB POTTER<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Stafford Springs, CT)—The CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions for
\nCharities Event at Stafford Motor Speedway scheduled for June 28th is
\nbuilding in momentum and excitement as the drivers gear up to raise funds
\nfor their respective charities. The impressive field of open wheeled
\ndivision champion drivers represents over 50 championships among 14 drivers.
\nThis week\u2019s spotlight is on Bob Potter, the 5-time Stafford SK Modified\u00ae
\nChampion, and he will be racing to raise funds for Compassion for Cats of
\nNew London County.<\/p>\n

“I like cats and this is a great organization,” said Potter. “They take
\nstray and neglected cats and give them shots, they spay and neuter the cats,
\nand they provide a home for the cats until they can find an owner to adopt
\nthe cats out to. The fact that I’ll be racing for charity is what makes this
\nrace great. We’re all racing to raise money, and it should be one heck of a
\nrace. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the track.”<\/p>\n

From 1991-1995, Potter put together one of the most dominant stretches in
\nStafford\u2019s SK Modified\u00ae history. Potter won the track championship in 1991,
\n1992, 1994, and 1995, leaving only the 1993 season standing between him and
\nwinning 5 consecutive track titles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started full time with Jiggs [Beetham] in 1988 and we won the
\nchampionship that year,\u201d said Potter. \u201cIf you could run at Stafford, there
\nwas a lot of publicity by racing at Stafford and it was a really tough track
\nto win a race at. We certainly worked our hardest on the cars and we ended
\nup winning four championships in five seasons. I quit midway through the
\n1993 season, so maybe if I didn\u2019t quit that season, we could have won 5
\nchampionships in a row. But we got 4 out of five, so I can\u2019t complain too
\nmuch about that, we did pretty well. When you\u2019re running that well and
\nwinning, it\u2019s a lot of fun to come out to the track and we certainly had a
\nlot of fun racing at Stafford.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his SK Modified\u00ae career at Stafford, Potter has 24 victories, which
\nplaces him in a tie with Steve Chowansky for fourth place on Stafford\u2019s
\nall-time SK Modified\u00ae winners list. Potter is looking to add one more
\nvictory to his Stafford resume and he is eager to get some practice time in
\nbefore he takes to the Stafford Mini-Mile behind the wheel of a Senior
\nOutlaw Kart on June 28th.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like the karts that we\u2019re going to be racing in,\u201d said Potter. \u201cThey
\nhave a roll cage and you can drive them sitting up. I drove a kart at the
\nPlainville Reunion last year and you had to lay down to drive them, which
\nwasn\u2019t too comfortable. I\u2019m going to have to see if I can get out to
\nStafford one of these Monday nights and see if I can take a kart around for
\n20 laps or so to get a feel for it. They\u2019re pretty fast karts from what I\u2019
\nve seen and I\u2019m sure they steer a lot different than a modified.\u201d

\nCARQUEST Extreme Tuesday will take place on June 28, 2011 and will also
\nfeature the ISMA Super Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, and Pro-4 Modifieds.
\nTickets for CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday are on sale now at the Speedway Box
\nOffice and are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00
\nfor children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of
\ncharge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is priced at $32.00
\nfor all ages. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with
