CARQUEST CHAMPIONS FOR CHARITIES DRIVER SPOTLIGHT: MIKE STEFANIK<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Stafford Springs, CT)—The CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions for
\nCharities Event at Stafford Motor Speedway scheduled for June 28th is
\nbuilding in momentum and excitement as the drivers gear up to raise funds
\nfor their respective charities. The impressive field of open wheeled
\ndivision champion drivers represents over 50 championships among 14 drivers.
\nThis week\u2019s driver spotlight falls on Mike Stefanik, 7-time Whelen Modified
\nTour Champion, who will be racing to help support Connecticut chapter of the
\nNational Multiple Sclerosis Society.<\/p>\n

The National MS Society is comprised of passionate individuals who want to
\nfree the world of multiple sclerosis. The Society’s mission is to mobilize
\npeople and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the
\nchallenges of everyone affected by MS.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, we\u2019re working on putting together our fund raising effort,\u201d said
\nStefanik. \u201cWe got a late start on the fundraising, but we have some irons
\nin the fire right now and I\u2019m hoping to have a successful campaign and raise
\nsome money for a great cause with the MS Society.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stefanik practically has his own wing in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
\nrecord book. He holds the series records for most career wins with 70, most
\ncareer top-5\u2019s with 213, most career top-10\u2019s with 278, most pole positions
\nwith 46, and the most championships with 7. Stefanik is also a 2-time K & N
\nPro Series East champion, and he has 12 career victories in that division,
\nwhich was formerly known as the Busch North Series. But with all of
\nStefanik\u2019s accolades and accomplishments, the CARQUEST Champions For
\nCharities Event will be a new experience for Stefanik, as he has never
\nbefore sat in a Senior Outlaw Wild Thing Kart.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time I drove a go kart was a long, long time ago at Sugar Hill,\u201d
\nsaid Stefanik. \u201cI\u2019m sure this will be a new experience for most of the
\nguys, but I\u2019m sure it is going to be a dicey and competitive race. If you
\nput racing drivers in anything, whether it\u2019s a modified, a go kart, or a
\nshopping kart, they\u2019re going to find a way to make it a competitive race.
\nBut at the end of the day, this race is all about raising money for charity
\nand that\u2019s the most important thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The starting lineups for the CARQUEST Champions For Charities qualifying
\nraces will be determined by how much money each driver raises for their
\nselected charity. The starting grid will be set with the drivers who have
\nraised the most money starting up front. Fans are encouraged to get
\ninvolved in the event by donating to their favorite driver or favorite
\ncharity. To make a donation to the The Connecticut Chapter of the National

CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday will take place on June 28, 2011 and will also
\nfeature the ISMA Super Modifieds, NEMA Midgets, and Pro-4 Modifieds.
\nTickets for CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday are on sale now at the Speedway Box
\nOffice and are priced at $30.00 for adult general admission tickets, $5.00
\nfor children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free of
\ncharge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is priced at $32.00
\nfor all ages. As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with
\novernight parking available.<\/p>\n
