South Plattsburgh \u2013 Airborne Speedway is making plans to accommodate the largest crowd of the year Saturday, July 2 when Pepsi, High Peaks Dental and Trim\u2019s Mobile Home Repair present a full race card and the largest fireworks display in track history.<\/p>\n
Pyrotechnic experts Dr. Joe Clauss and Sons have vowed to \u201cfire the most gunpowder over
\nthe skies of Plattsburgh since we defeated the British ships during the War of 1812.\u201d

\n\u201cLast year\u2019s show was the best at Airborne in 58 years,\u201d promoter Mike Perrotte said. \u201cSaturday we\u2019ll have of the largest displays anywhere in New York. We have hired extra personnel to handle increased traffic, parking and concessions.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cMike has done some extra bulldozing to prepare the launch sites as an added safety precaution because this deal will be much bigger and longer than the last one, which was very well-received,\u201d Dr. Clauss said. \u201cI lost my Dad over the winter and I have never done a show without him. This year\u2019s display will be in hopes of having him looking down on Airborne and saying \u2013 nice job!\u201d<\/p>\n
Airborne was rained out for the third time this season Saturday, June 25. \u201cThe weather\u2019s been hard on everybody,\u201d Perrotte said. \u201cWe\u2019ve arranged Sunday, July 3 as a rain date for this event because we\u2019re determined to get it in.\u201d<\/p>\n
Admission is $15\/adults \u2013 kids 12 and under admitted free. Racing begins at 6 p.m. Spectators arriving after 8:30 p.m. will be admitted onto the grounds for $7 per carload.<\/p>\n
All five weekly divisions will be in action. More than 110 race cars are expected. Defending Ernie\u2019s Discount Tools Modified champion Patrick Dupree of Saranac Lake will be out for his second straight win against 30-plus DIRTcar Modifieds. Airborne\u2019s new Go-Kart track will be open.<\/p>\n
