After a series of rain postponements, Thunder Road\u2019s stars seem to finally be in rhythm as they head into the Monday, July 4th special Pepsi Holiday Fireworks event. It will be the first of two events in four days, the other being the Thursday, July 7th Charter Communications Night, followed by the Times Argus Mid-Season Championships on Thursday, July 14.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n2010 \u201cKing of the Road\u201d Nick Sweet of Barre, Lt. Governor Phil Scott of Berlin, and current Rookie of the Year leader Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown will need to make the most of the next two events before the double-point Mid-Season Championships. Graniteville\u2019s John Donahue currently holds a 46 point lead over Sweet, while Scott and Hebert sit 48 and 50 points off the pace respectively. Donahue has had a tremendous start to the season, picking up wins in the Memorial Day Classic and the Vermont Governor\u2019s Cup, but with three events in just eleven days, a lot can happen and no one can be counted out of contention.<\/p>\n<p>Bradford\u2019s Derrick O\u2019Donnell survived the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen double features (one feature was a make-up from June 26) on Thursday, June 30 to hold on to the point lead. With two wins already this season, O\u2019Donnell leads Milton\u2019s Eric Badore and Hinesburg\u2019s Bobby Therrien.<\/p>\n<p>The Allen Lumber Street Stocks see the top five in the standings separated by just 20 points. Barre\u2019s Ron Gabaree leads Jefferson, NH\u2019s Nick Pilotte by just four points. Both drivers have already secured one feature win apiece this season. Greg Adams, Troy Kingsbury, and David Whitcomb complete the top five.<\/p>\n<p>The Junkyard Warriors currently have a tie at the top of their point standings between Waterbury\u2019s Jason Woodard and Williamstown\u2019s Kevin Wheatley.<\/p>\n<p>All four Thunder Road divisions will continue their point battles this Monday, July 4 with the Pepsi Holiday event featuring fireworks. Post time is 6:30pm. Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6 to 12 and $20 for a family ticket (two adults and two kids).<\/p>\n<p>Just three days later, Thursday, July 7, the \u201cNation\u2019s Site of Excitement\u201d will be back with Charter Communications night.
