{"id":6138,"date":"2011-07-10T23:06:33","date_gmt":"2011-07-11T03:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2011-07-10T22:07:16","modified_gmt":"2011-07-11T02:07:16","slug":"pasteryak-nabs-lee-port-city-100-win-ties-pennink-point-lead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/pasteryak-nabs-lee-port-city-100-win-ties-pennink-point-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Pasteryak Nabs Lee Port City 100 Win, Ties Pennink For Point Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lee, N.H. &#8212; Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT, passed race leader Joe Doucette on lap 52 to go on and win the Valenti Modified Racing Series, Laticrete \u201cPort City 100\u201d Friday night, July 8, at Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH.  <\/p>\n<p>The win was Pasteryak\u2019s first at Lee, his second of the season, and his fifth career victory with the VMRS,<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nPasteryak becomes a guaranteed starter for next weekend\u2019s big race at Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH., the 4th annual \u201cRicky\u2019s Race for Kids,\u201d July 16.<\/p>\n<p>Pole-sitter Louie Mechalides, Tyngsboro, MA., was the early leader until Doucette, of Framingham, MA., took the top spot on lap three. Doucette took command for the next 49 laps as he fought off Mechalides and then several side-by-side attempts by Pasteryak for five circuits before the 2008 series champion was able to move by. <\/p>\n<p>Veteran Dwight Jarvis, of Ascutney, VT., finished in the runner-up position after<br \/>\nstarting eighth in the 19-car field. Defending series champion Jon McKennedy,<br \/>\nE. Chelmsford, MA., made a late race charge to finish third, Windsor Locks,<br \/>\nCT., veteran Les Hinckley III, was fourth, and Ken Barry, of Preston, CT., debuting<br \/>\na brand new car, finished fifth. <\/p>\n<p>Sixth through tenth were, Rowan Pennink, Jimmy Kuhn, Norman Wrenn, Doucette,<br \/>\nand Rob Goodenough.<\/p>\n<p>With threatening skies and nearby rainstorms, the race program was hurried along<br \/>\nby speedway management. The 100-lap race was completed in 29 minutes with only<br \/>\none caution flag slowing the event.<\/p>\n<p>Heat race winners were Jarvis and Doucette.<\/p>\n<p>19 race teams entered the race with all cars finishing. 11 cars were on the lead lap.  <\/p>\n<p>Pasteryak\u2019s victory moved him into a tie for the point lead with Pennink.
