This year\u2019s event carries the largest purse in the eight<br \/>\nyear history of the Valenti Modified Racing Series. <\/p>\n<p>Mascoma Savings Bank, of Lebanon, NH., and Irving Energy, of Portmouth, NH.<br \/>\nare the Prime Corporate Sponsors for this year\u2019s event.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe race is run in honor of Ricky Miller, a former modified racer and champion who<br \/>\ndied in 2004 from injuries suffered in a racing accident.<\/p>\n<p>Four years ago, Miller\u2019s family, headed up by his father, Donnie Miller, a legendary<br \/>\nand successful racer himself, organized a fundraiser in Ricky\u2019s honor. <\/p>\n<p>The race benefits David\u2019s House, of Lebanon, NH, a home away from home for<br \/>\nfamilies with ill or injured children receiving treatment through Children\u2019s Hospital<br \/>\nat Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.<\/p>\n<p>With this years posted purse jumping to an all-time high, the regular competitors of<br \/>\nthe VMRS are gearing up for a run at the big purse with several top names from<br \/>\nother modified racing venues expected to compete.<\/p>\n<p>Former \u201cRicky\u2019s Race For Kids\u201d winners are confirmed entries. <\/p>\n<p>2008 winner Matt Hirschman, of Northampton, PA., 2009 winner, Jacob Dore,<br \/>\nof Sanford, ME., and last year\u2019s winner Eric Goodale, of Wading River, NY.,<br \/>\nwill try and score the big payoff. . <\/p>\n<p>Current point leaders Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., and Rowan Pennink, of<br \/>\nHuntingdon Valley, PA., are entered. Pasteryak is a guaranteed starter from<br \/>\nlast weeks race at Lee USA Speedway where he captured the 100-lap qualifier.<br \/>\nHe and Pennink are tied for the point-lead. <\/p>\n<p>Two-time and defending series champion, Jon McKennedy, of East Chelmsford, MA.,<br \/>\na guaranteed starter from the recent Monadnock Speedway race, is ready for the big<br \/>\nevent as is Les Hinckley, Windsor Locks, CT., and Dwight Jarvis, Ascutney, VT.  <\/p>\n<p>Kenny Barry of Preston, CT., is expected, as is Koszela Speed Rookie of the<br \/>\nYear contender, Timmy Jordan of Plainfield, CT, and three-time series Champion<br \/>\nKirk Alexander, Swanzey, NH. <\/p>\n<p>Tyngsboro, MA., veteran Louie Mechalides and Norman Wrenn, of Nashua, NH.,<br \/>\nare two long-time racers ready for Ricky\u2019s Race.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Stefanik, Coventry, RI., winner of the first \u201cChase to the Race\u201d qualifier<br \/>\nat Thompson, CT., Speedway will compete as will Doug Coby of Milford, CT.<br \/>\nRace organizers have announced that McKennedy has been declared the winner<br \/>\nof the \u201cChase to the Race\u201d points fund.. McKennedy and Pasteryak were tied at 71<br \/>\npoints each after the Lee race.. The overall three race finishing average shows<br \/>\nMcKennedy coming out on top.  With the qualifier at Stafford lost to bad weather,<br \/>\norganizers took the best finishing average without a win and that went to Les Hinckley<br \/>\nthe Windsor Locks, CT., driver becomes an automatic qualifier.
