LOUDON, N.H. (July 16, 2011) – He had to earn this one. The “Rocket Man” continued his front-running weekend by capturing the checkered flag in the F.W. Webb 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.<\/p>\n
His No. 7 Aggressive Hydraulics\/Menards car was simply too strong in the straights for Newman to be denied the victory in an exciting modified battle.

\nNewman held off Todd Szegedy’s No. 6 Wisk Detergent\/ A&J Romano Construction racer and Ron Silk’s No. 6 T.S. Haulers Inc.\/Calverton Tree Farm’s car to secure the win.<\/p>\n
Newman has now won three NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events in a row at “The Magic Mile.” This marks his fourth win in the mighty modifieds.<\/p>\n
“Our car was really loose in the beginning,” said Newman. “Come to find out all of the guys were loose, so that helped us out. We all raced clean and had a lot of fun.”<\/p>\n
Winning Crew Chief and Massachusetts native Kevin “Bono” Manion was thrilled to be back in Victory Lane at his hometown track.<\/p>\n
“As a kid coming here for a modified race was huge,” said Manion. “To race with all the Cup guys was pretty neat. It’s a lot of fun to come back with a guy like Ryan and get the win, now that you know all that’s involved with owning a race team.”<\/p>\n
Szegedy, now has four top-five finishes in his six 2011 events. He entered the F.W. Webb 100 ranked seventh in the points standings.<\/p>\n
“Second to me is a victory,” said Szgedy. “We’ve had some bad luck lately, so in the end it was a great race for me, but we have some work to do until the next race and then maybe we can beat him (Newman).<\/p>\n
Silk has stood on the podium four times this season. He stands in second place in the points right now.<\/p>\n
“The race was pretty uneventful for me in the beginning,” said Silk. “We had a good car today we finally got close to Newman but then got up into the loose stuff. Todd was able to get around us. We’ll just get ready for the next one.”<\/p>\n
