Szegedy
and the #2 Wisk / AJ Romano Construction team began the year with accidents
in the first two races of the season after running among the leaders in each
race. In the 4 races since, Szegedy and crew have notched 2 wins and 4
top-10 finishes. Szegedy is the defending champion of the Town Fair Tire
150 at Stafford and he is keen to take home another Town Fair Tire 150
trophy when the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour visits Stafford Speedway on
August 5 for the 21st Annual Town Fair Tire 150.

“I feel like we have a good shot at winning the race,” said Szegedy. “Right
now, we feel like we can win every time we go to the track. Phil [Moran]
and I are working well together and I feel like we’re a potent combination
right now. The crew is giving me good cars that I can win with every race,
it’s my job to put them into victory lane. I consider Stafford my home
track and I know where we need to be with the car, which helps Phil set the
car up for the race.”

In addition to another Stafford victory to add to his resume, Szegedy is
looking to continue his surge in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points
standings. After finishes of 22nd and 24th in the first two races of the
2011 season, Szegedy was a distant 25th place in points. In the next four
Whelen Modified Tour races since, Szegedy has recorded two wins and 4 top-10
finishes to climb his way into his current ranking of 5th place in the point
standings, 104 points behind Rowan Pennink. Szegedy is also the most recent
feature winner on Tour, taking the checkered flag at New Hampshire Motor
Speedway.

“Things were pretty grim looking after the Sizzler at Stafford, but we’re
still in the championship hunt,” said Szegedy. “The only thing we can do is
to keep running strong. We have a fast car right now and sometimes you have
luck on your side. We’re pretty happy with where we are right now because
we have a car that is capable of winning every week. Even though we
originally finished second at New Hampshire, like I said in the press
conference it was like a win because Ryan [Newman] wasn’t racing for points,
so we go the max points from that race. Every spot and every points counts,
so our goal is to get max points at every race. The winners’ check from New
Hampshire is also going to help us out a lot.”

With 4 career Whelen Modified Tour victories at Stafford, Szegedy certainly
knows what it takes to win a Stafford race and what to expect for car
setups. Szegedy says that the track might be a bit slower for the Town Fair
Tire 150 and that he and his team are ready for the challenge.

“The key to winning at Stafford is hitting the setup,” said Szegedy. “There
’s a number of guys out there that can win at Stafford on any given night,
but I have confidence in Phil giving me a winning setup, it’s going to be up
to me to put the car in victory lane. The track is usually quick in the
spring and in the fall, but it seems to fall off a little bit in the summer.

Plus with the monster truck show coming this weekend, it’s going to change
the handing of the car. Normally the cars lose a little bit of side grip
and we fight the track until we get rubber back in the track.”

Tickets for the 21st Annual Town Fair Tire 150 are on sale now at the
Speedway Box Office and are price at $30.00 for adult general admission
tickets, $5.00 for children ages 6-14, and children ages 5 and under are
admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Reserved seating is
priced at $32.00 for all ages.
