NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR COMES TO STAFFORD SPEEDWAY FOR 21ST ANNUAL TOWN FAIR TIRE 150<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Stafford Springs, CT)—NASCAR\u2019s Whelen Modified Tour comes to Stafford
\nMotor Speedway this Friday, August 5th for 21st Annual Town Fair Tire 150,
\nwhich will be the third of four visits the tour will make to Stafford in
\n2011. The race is presented to race fans by Town Fair Tire and its over 84
\nlocations throughout the Northeast. The 21st Annual Town Fair Tire 150 will
\nfeature the stars and cars of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as well as
\nStafford Speedway\u2019s five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing divisions.
\nLast year\u2019s Town Fair Tire 150 saw two former Whelen Modified Tour champions
\ndueling for the victory with 2003 champ Todd Szegedy beating 7-time champ
\nMike Stefanik to the checkered flag.

Coming into the Town Fair Tire 150, Ronnie Silk holds the points lead by 5
\npoints over Rowan Pennink. Silk won the last time the Whelen Modified Tour
\nvisited Stafford in dominating fashion by winning the pole and leading every
\nlap. Pennink finished second behind Silk in that race and with only 5
\npoints separating them in the standings, the fight for the championship will
\nbe in full swing at Stafford. Szegedy currently sits third in the points,
\n91 behind Silk while Ted Christopher, who has more wins at Stafford than any
\nother driver, is fourth, 97 points behind.<\/p>\n

Szegedy has enjoyed great success in the Town Fair Tire 150, with three of
\nhis four Stafford Whelen Modified Tour victories coming in the Town Fair
\nTire 150. Szegedy was the 2003, 2004, and 2010 winner of the Town Fair Tire
\n150 and he was in contention in the 2008 Town Fair Tire 150 victory until
\ncontact with Ryan Preece on the final lap saw Jimmy Blewett get by both
\ndrivers to take the checkered flag. The Town Fair Tire 150 has also seen a
\nfirst time winner with James Civali in 2006, and since 2000, the race has
\nbeen won 7 times by former Whelen Modified Tour championship winning
\ndrivers. Szegedy was the last driver to score repeat victories in the Town
\nFair Tire 150, winning the race in 2003 and 2004, and he will look to go
\nback to back once again this Friday night.<\/p>\n
