When all the dust and car parts had settled, Eric Arsenault (#86) of Wellington, PEI was the last car left running and claimed the win in the<br \/>\nexciting feature event of the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>A perennial front-runner in demolition events, cousin Billy Arsenault (#2) of Abram Village, PEI put the pedal to the floor right off the green flag on his 1982 Impala, and after a violent collision, saw his rear axle fly off relegating him to a front row seat for the rest of the event with a disabled vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>St\u00e9phane Poirier (#68) of St. Louis de Kent, another front-runner in such event, also saw his afternoon come to a sudden halt after a rear end collision which crushed the back end of his<br \/>\n1968 Pontiac Bonneville racecar right into the back seat and also disabled his rear wheels.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Andr\u00e9 Tremblay (#29) of St. Louis de Kent almost flipped his 1992 Lumina after sideswiping another competitor. His car racecar tipped onto its two driver-side wheels for a few moments before crashing back down onto all four wheels. Moments later, Eric Arsenault put a final hit on Andr\u00e9\u2019s racecar to claim the win with R\u00e9mi Gallant (#11) of Haute Aboujagane claiming third.<\/p>\n<p>It was a good afternoon<br \/>\nfor Paul Costain (#12) of Moncton who claimed wins aboard his 1991 Plymouth Acclaim in both the 10-lap Full Contact race and the wild Figure 8 race. Meanwhile, Bruce Hach\u00e9 (#37) of Beresford piloted his 1991 Accord to first place in the 50-lap Endurance race ahead of Simon Dupuis (#26) of Cap-Pel\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, R\u00e9mi Gallant put on the best demonstration of tire-burning action in the Burnout Competition putting a final exclamation point by blowing both rear tires to the delight of the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Next weekend, the Centre for Speed (CFS), Atlantic Canada\u2019s Super Speedway and \u201cMetro Moncton\u2019s Playground of Power\u201d, will host two very different events.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, July 24th at 7:00 p.m., the CFS\u00a0 will host the concert in the 2009 Pumphouse Brewery Classic Rock Series . The evening will feature Canadian classic rock band \u201cThe Headpins&#8221; fronted by rock vocal legend Darby Mills best known for their hits \u201cDon\u2019t It Make Ya Feel (like dancin&#8217;)\u201d, \u201cTurn It<br \/>\nLoud\u201d, &#8220;Just one more Time&#8221;, and others. The Headpins will be supported by Loaded Dice featuring Don Coleman with their tribute to AC\/DC and ZZ Top along with multiple Blues award winners \u201cGlamour Puss\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The crews in the South East Challenge Series, a partnership between the CFS and Riverglade Speedway for drivers in all four regular divisions of Sportsman, Street Stock, Mini Stocks and Four Fun race cars, will be back at it on Sunday, July 26th at 2:00 p.m. with the Buyer Flyer twin 50-lap features for Sportsman and Four Fun divisions, as well as regular points racing for Mini and Street Stock competitors.<\/p>\n<p>Full schedule details are available at www.centreforspeed.com<\/p>\n<p>TRAVEL NOTE: Due to bridge construction on Route #133, all CFS traffic must use Exit #43 (Grand Barachois) off Highway #15 until further notice.
