{"id":907,"date":"2009-07-24T21:25:39","date_gmt":"2009-07-25T02:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2009-08-09T14:59:23","modified_gmt":"2009-08-09T19:59:23","slug":"macdonald-waits-his-turn-wins-250","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/macdonald-waits-his-turn-wins-250\/","title":{"rendered":"MacDonald waits his turn, wins 250"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">OXFORD, Maine \u2013 Eddie McDonald             led the final 83 laps Sunday night, holding off Canada\u2019s Patrick             Laperle by nearly a full second to win the 36<sup>th<\/sup> annual TD             Banknorth 250 Presented By New England Dodge Dealers at Oxford             Plains Speedway.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">MacDonald, 29, of             Rowley, Mass., one of the top drivers in the NASCAR Camping World             East Series, conquered one of the nation\u2019s most storied short             track races in only his third try.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">He surrendered the             lead to Brian Hoar in order to pit under caution on lap 129. After             falling out of the top 10, MacDonald charged back through the field             to reclaim=2 0the top spot from Hoar on the 168<sup>th<\/sup> circuit.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">MacDonald won             $35,300, walking away with more than $10,000 in lap-leader bonus             money for the second straight year.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Laperle lurked             within two car lengths with roughly 25 laps remaining before             MacDonald pulled away. John Donahue was third, followed by Hoar and             Shawn Martin.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Brent Dragon, who             led 81 of the first 90 laps, finished sixth, followed by two-time             champion Ben Rowe, Cris Michaud, Brad Leighton and Travis Stearns.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Forty-three cars             started the event, including NASCAR stars Kenny and Steve Wallace.             Both failed to qualify through three rounds of heat races and took             provisional starting spots.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Steve Wallace ran             21<sup>st<\/sup>, while his uncle retired from event with motor             problems and finished 33<sup>rd<\/sup>.<\/span>&lt;  \/div&gt;<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Seventy-one drivers             attempted to qualify.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">MacDonald is only             the third Massachusetts driver to win the 250, joining Joey Kourafas             (1974) and Tom Rosati (1979).<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\"><strong>36<sup>TH<\/sup> ANNUAL TD BANKNORTH 250<br \/>\nPRESENTED BY NEW ENGLAND DODGE DEALERS<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Fin.
