{"id":911,"date":"2009-07-24T21:26:39","date_gmt":"2009-07-25T02:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/?p=9076"},"modified":"2009-08-09T14:54:30","modified_gmt":"2009-08-09T19:54:30","slug":"mckennedy-checks-out-in-second-half-captures-maine-ly-action-sports-100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newenglandracingnews.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/mckennedy-checks-out-in-second-half-captures-maine-ly-action-sports-100\/","title":{"rendered":"McKennedy checks out in second half, captures Maine-Ly Action Sports 100"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\"><br \/>\nOXFORD, Maine &#8211; Jon McKennedy lost the lead twice in Saturday&#8217;s             Maine-Ly Action Sports 100 at Oxford Plains Speedway.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Once the driver from Chelmsford,             Mass., returned to the front of the field in the True Value Modified             Series main event, however, the only thing he lost was his             competition.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">McKennedy dominated the final 24 laps             to rule the third-annual event on the eve of Sunday&#8217;s 36th annual TD             Banknorth 250 Presented By New England Dodge Dealers late model             race.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">&#8220;I knew I had a good car. I just             kept telling myself not to abuse the tires,&#8221; said McKennedy,             who surrendered the lead to both Rob Goodenough and Andy Seuss             before reclaiming it for keeps on lap 77.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Keith Iannarelli&#8217;s spin brought out             only the second caution flag of the event and necessitated a             three-lap shootout at the finish. McKennedy got a strong jump on the             restart and left behind the second-place battle between Vernont&#8217;s             Dwight Jarvis and Maine&#8217;s David Pinkham.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Jarvis held on for second, with             defending race champion Pinkham third after starting last in the             22-car field.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Seuss and Ed Dachenhausen completed             the top five in the open-wheel showcase.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Double features for the Allen&#8217;s             Coffee Flavored Brandy Strictly and Mini Stocks also provided ample             excitement on the card. The first round of 30-lap features was held             over from Friday night&#8217;s partial rainout.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Sumner Sessions captured his first             win of the season in the opening half of the Strictly twin bill,             with Mike Short scoring his division-leading fourth win of the year             in the nightcap.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: x-small\">Reigning Mini champion Ashley             Marshall picked up his second checkered flag of the summer in the             make-up event.
