SOUTH PLATTSBURGH \u2013 Airborne Speedway will host a stand-alone Fourth of July Holiday Fireworks Spectacular Tuesday, July 3 and combine it with a new style of motorsports mayhem known as \u201ccar soccer\u201d<\/p>\n
Car soccer is a demolition derby variation popularized at Midwestern State Fairs. Teams of drivers attempt to score goals with a steel ball without getting knocked out of commission by their opponents.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we\u2019ve struck a chord with this one,\u201d promoter Mike Perrotte said. \u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of interest and inquiries about rules and signing up already.\u201d

\nAdirondack Family Chiropractic\u2019s Dr. Joe Clauss and his family will return as the fireworks masterminds. Last year\u2019s aerial display was one of the largest in New York State.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had one of the largest crowds ever at the races for the fireworks last year,\u201d Perrotte said. \u201cGiven the timing of the weekday holiday this year, we decided to have the fireworks celebration on its own night. That will make getting in and out of the track easier and seats available for everybody. The car soccer event will add some fun and excitement and the go-kart track will be open too.\u201d<\/p>\n
The following Saturday night, July 7, Airborne hosts an extra-distance USA\/Canada Limited Late Model Masters Series event.<\/p>\n
