The New England based Valenti Modified<br \/>\nRacing Series, with over 70 race teams registered to compete this year,<br \/>\nis ready for it\u2019s ninth season. <\/p>\n<p>The 2012 opener takes place at Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford, CT.,<br \/>\nSaturday and Sunday, Oct 31, &#038; April 1. The annual \u201cBudweiser Blastoff\u201d<br \/>\ntwo-day event will kick off a 15- race schedule.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nRace teams from throughout the Northeast is expected to enter the first race<br \/>\nincluding two drivers that were the story of the 2011 event.<\/p>\n<p>Defending VMRS Champion, Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., the 2011 \u201cBlastoff\u201d<br \/>\nwinner will return to his \u201chome track\u201d to defend his win. Two-time series<br \/>\nWaterford winner, Doug Coby, of Milford, CT., will again wheel the Czarnecki<br \/>\nBrothers # 20 car. Both drivers battled throughout the 100-lap race. Both<br \/>\ncould be considered early favorites for the season lid-lifter. <\/p>\n<p>Les Hinckley III, of Windsor Locks, CT., another former Speedbowl winner,<br \/>\nwill look to return to victory lane in the Chuck Montville # 06, the car that<br \/>\ncarried him to a solid runner-up position in the 2011- point standings.<\/p>\n<p>Madison, CT., veteran Mike Holdridge, winner of his first series race last<br \/>\nseason, plans to be ready for the Waterford race. Nashua, NH., veteran Norm<br \/>\nWrenn. plans to enter the Waterford opener. Wrenn had a solid run in last<br \/>\nyears race.<\/p>\n<p>Steven Masse, of Bellingham, Ma., always a threat at Waterford, plans to<br \/>\nenter the race. Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon Valley, PA., a past winner<br \/>\nat the famed oval, will again compete driving for car-owner Gary Casella <\/p>\n<p>Louie Mechalides, of Tyngsboro, MA., will drive a brand new entry for<br \/>\ncar-owner Kevin Stuart, of Lowell, MA. Stuart will also field a second<br \/>\ncar for newcomer, Anthony Nocella, of Woburn, MA.<\/p>\n<p>Preston, CT\u2019s Max Zachem former ROC series champion, Matt<br \/>\nHirschman, of Northampton, PA., and two-time series champion Jon<br \/>\nMcKennedy, Chelmsford, MA., will be in action. McKennedy will<br \/>\npilot the Kenny Barry #2 car out of Preston.  <\/p>\n<p>Qualifying races will be held on Saturday at 3:00 PM with feature races<br \/>\nstarting at 12 noon on Sunday.  The annual Pit-Party for race fans will be held Sunday morning at 9:30 AM.
