Moultonboro, NH – The Lakes Region Ice Racing Club gathered at the
\nMoultonboro Lion\u2019s Club to celebrate the 2012 ice racing season. The
\nevening started with a social hour with appetizers, beverages, and
\nlots of stories about this year\u2019s 5 ice races. The social time was
\nfollowed by a fantastic roast pork dinner with all the fixins prepared
\nby Mel Martel. With the preliminary socializing and eating out of the
\nway, club patriarch and long time ice and dirt racer Jack Cook MC\u2019d
\nthe various raffles and recognitions portion of the evening.

\nOne of the first pieces of business was to present
\nDartmouth-Hitchcock\u2019s Norris Cotton Cancer Center with a check for
\n$6,500. The donation was made possible by the club\u2019s annual Latchkey
\nCup charity event held this year on Saturday Feb 11th. The pledges
\ncollected by the drivers, the sponsor donations, and the Lakes Region
\nfans combined to make this generous donation possible.<\/p>\n
The many hard working club volunteers from the gate people to the plow
\nguys were recognized, special awards were presented, and the race
\ndivision champions were crowned. The big trophies for the champions
\nwent to Mike Frank (74) Stock class, Jack Cook (14) Modified class,
\nTim Chase (40) Rear Wheel Drive class, Alicia Taylor (7) Front Wheel
\nDrive class, and Chris Taylor (8) in the Junior class. Note that Jack
\nCook is the grandfather of Alicia and Chris Taylor; a real family
\naffair for the Cooks.<\/p>\n
Our friends from the New England Ice Racing Association from the
\nMilton area and the Jaffery Ice Racing Association took part in a
\ncouple of this year\u2019s events and did very well for themselves. We
\nhope they join us again next year.<\/p>\n
