The<br \/>\nevening started with a social hour with appetizers, beverages, and<br \/>\nlots of stories about this year\u2019s 5 ice races.  The social time was<br \/>\nfollowed by a fantastic roast pork dinner with all the fixins prepared<br \/>\nby Mel Martel.  With the preliminary socializing and eating out of the<br \/>\nway, club patriarch and long time ice and dirt racer Jack Cook MC\u2019d<br \/>\nthe various raffles and recognitions portion of the evening.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nOne of the first pieces of business was to present<br \/>\nDartmouth-Hitchcock\u2019s Norris Cotton Cancer Center with a check for<br \/>\n$6,500.  The donation was made possible by the club\u2019s annual Latchkey<br \/>\nCup charity event held this year on Saturday Feb 11th.  The pledges<br \/>\ncollected by the drivers, the sponsor donations, and the Lakes Region<br \/>\nfans combined to make this generous donation possible.<\/p>\n<p>The many hard working club volunteers from the gate people to the plow<br \/>\nguys were recognized, special awards were presented, and the race<br \/>\ndivision champions were crowned.  The big trophies for the champions<br \/>\nwent to Mike Frank (74) Stock class,  Jack Cook (14) Modified class,<br \/>\nTim Chase (40) Rear Wheel Drive class, Alicia Taylor (7) Front Wheel<br \/>\nDrive class, and Chris Taylor (8) in the Junior class.  Note that Jack<br \/>\nCook is the grandfather of Alicia and Chris Taylor;  a real family<br \/>\naffair for the Cooks.<\/p>\n<p>Our friends from the New England Ice Racing Association from the<br \/>\nMilton area and the Jaffery Ice Racing Association took part in a<br \/>\ncouple of this year\u2019s events and did very well for themselves.  We<br \/>\nhope they join us again next year.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a racer and would like to try racing on the ice in 2013,<br \/>\ncheck the Club website for rules and contact one of the listed club<br \/>\nmembers to learn how to get involved.  If you are a race fan that has<br \/>\nnever been to an oval track, ice race, check us out next year after<br \/>\nthe holidays.
