The track\u2019s premier NASCAR Whelen All American Series division will compete in double feature events on Thursday, July 30<sup>th<\/sup> and again on Thursday, August 6<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;line-height: 18px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\"> The July 30<sup>th<\/sup> date will incorporate both the regular weekly 30-lap main for the Sunoco Modifieds plus the postponed 30-lap feature dating back to June 11<sup>th<\/sup>. The August 6<sup>th<\/sup> twin bill is a change from the single 100-lap race to a twin 50-lap format.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;line-height: 18px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\"> Speedway management made the change in the August 6<sup>th<\/sup> date due to the number of events that have been rained out in the first half of the 2009 racing season. \u201cBy changing the 100-lap event into two 50-lap races, we give the competitors one more race in their quest for NASCAR Championship points. We feel that we must do whatever we can to assist our top NASCAR division to remain competitive in the chase for national NASCAR points that determine the NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion at the season\u2019s end,\u201d said track owner, Don Hoenig.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;line-height: 18px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\"> In spite of all of the inclement weather in New England this season, two of Thompson\u2019s regular competitors find themselves in the top 6 nationally in NASCAR\u2019s points system. Keith Rocco currently occupies the number one position and Ted Christopher is shown in the 6<sup>th<\/sup> position in the national standings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;line-height: 18px;font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif\"> The double headers for the Sunoco Modifieds will be joined by the other divisions that make up the NASCAR Whelen All American Series \u201cSuper 6\u201d at Thompson. These next two race dates will set the stage for the return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on August 13<sup>th<\/sup>. This will mark the second visit this season for the Whelen Modified Tour when the New England Dodge Dealers present the Budweiser 150-lap main event.
