Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine, finished fourth in the PASS North Series Star 150 at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday, May 12. The effort marked the second-straight Top-5 for Doiron to start the 2012 season and was his best career Star Speedway result. Doiron played a game of patience to survive a wild Star 150, starting 11th in the 22-car field and making his biggest climb through the field over the second half of the event.

JOEY, HOW DOES IT FEEL TO GET ANOTHER TOP-5 FINISH TO START YOUR SEASON?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s Star Speedway. If you’ve got the fenders on it at the end, you’re going to be in pretty good position. I rode around at the start, because we brought the crate motor \u2013 the Little Engine That Could.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a rash of cautions there, and it seemed like every restart I was on the outside. Everyone with the big (motors) would get you on the restart, and you just had to hang tough and not lose as many spots as you could. I was just trying to salvage at the end of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

DID THE CAR FALL OFF AT ALL LATE IN THE RACE?
\n\u201cIt didn’t really seem to change that much. It fell off a little bit at the end, but it didn’t really change that much. It was pretty much the same car I had at the start of the race. You could only go so fast with so many hammerheads sometimes on the track.\u201d<\/p>\n

HOW IMPORTANT WAS IT TO STAY PATIENT TONIGHT?
\n\u201cIt’s really important. The second restart we had on the day, I restarted sixth on the outside and couldn’t get back in line until about 16th. It was a long road to hoe to get back to the front, but slowly but surely…we worked our way back to the front. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe kept the fenders clean. I think I had more damage last week when I won, and that’s always good \u2013 especially at a place like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
